I just love the story of John Cleese cabbing it from Oslo to Brussels.  Luckiest cabbie ever: he made 5k euros and got to drive for hours with John Cleese.

But then he has to drive back.

..... make politicians get serious about better rail transportation (9/11 doesn't count, this is a complete Act of God).

Rail transport will be a joke (in the US) until passenger lines and CSX lines are separated, new lines are build and private industry is allowed to do the job.
