Because the ACLU hates conservatives?

I didn't know Arabs were allowed martyr complexes; I thought that was reserved solely to the Jews.
Excellent joke sir!

Joke?

Because the ACLU hates conservatives?

I bet there's a chapter of the ACLU somewhere defending some  teabagger's right to be stupid. The ACLU has a lot of Jews, and they defended the right of Nazis to protest in Jewish neighborhoods.

They did defend Rush Limbaugh.

What would happen if the ACLU merged with the Cato Institute?

They should; they're both phony self-appointed defenders of liberty.

Is it because the ACLU advocates expansion of government in order to ensure the protection of civil liberties?

For example, if a company fires a worker who happens to be part of a protected class, will the ACLU not back that worker in a discrimination lawsuit against the company?

I am generally unhappy with the ACLU's choice of cases outside the free speech realm, and I think much of the litigation about expression of religion, is a waste of time really. However, I am glad they are around. Going to court to test the law, and how it is enforced, is not a sin. And if the result seems kooky, blame the courts, not the litigants.

Then why do they barely ever take up conservative causes to defend?

Neo-Nazi speech.

The Nazi's were quite Right-Wing. They had a fetish for war, had unrepentant Militaristic tendencies, used Christianity to give Hitler a prophet like status among the German people, abhors dissension from the Government's leadership, and of course supported torture of their enemies. Arguably the same Nativist Theocratic nonsense spouted out from today's modern Right. Conservative? No. Right-Wing? Absolutely.

None of those things are inherently "right-wing."

This, quite hard. I've no doubt States will moan about Germany's economic interventionism, conveniently forgetting that, until historically recently (that is, until the early 20th century), the interventionist Right was just as strong, if not stronger, as the liberal Right -- Alexander Hamilton was, in his day, an economic interventionist and a defender of feudalistic mercantilism.

Of course, StatesRights has no idea who Otto von Bismarck was, so we ought to give him time enough to go to Wikipedia and see.

It's almost sad to see that you've degenerated to this level, deadsy. Have you by chance looked at the German voter rolls from the era? If so, you'd know that upwards of 50% of all NSDAP voters came originally from the DNVP, an explicitly conservative Party.

You could get off this hook by simply admitting that right-wing-ism != free-marketism. But oh, such would be so difficult for you.

That's part of it, but even if the ACLU's case does not involve expansion of government, many conservatives (despite claiming to value individualism) will put religious standards, personal disapproval, or social conformity above individual rights.

The Nazis were nationalists and religious, therefore they were right-wing.

"Kennedy was a devout Catholic."
