How would the race have went if Michelle Bachmann somehow won the Republican nomination in 2008?  Also, how would it go if she ran in 2012?

Discuss, with maps for both scenarios.

Against Obama in 2012 she would. While one of the weakest possible candidates, Bachmann would still crush Obama in 2012.

Happy Warrior's map looks about right. Bachmann is an extremist (or perceived to be one) and thus she would do even worse than McCain, who was perceived as pretty moderate.

In 2008, not in 2012. Obama will be lucky if he wins any states in 2012 regardless of his opponent.

Obama will be reelected in 2012. Take my word for that.

Please, keep that sentiment in your head. It will make it all the more fun for your November surprise in 2012. Cheesy

Michele Bachmann [R-Minnesota] would have given Barack Obama a 400-plus-vote victory in the 2008 Electoral College. He would have beaten her, in the U.S. popular vote, by closer to 12.25% (5 points on top of his actual margin). In 2012, Bachmann would give a 500-vote victory in the Electoral College to Obama.

In the 2012 electoral map, give Bachmann – thanks to Republican advantages in high margins – Idaho, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming. Show her carrying Alaska in the mid single digits. Watch her lose Nebraska between 6-10 points. And watch her lose Alabama by 1-3 points, while Mississippi – which John McCain held by similar margins to historically Democratic West Virginia (but lost a third of Bush's 2004 margin) – flip to Obama (by at least five points).

Bachmann, in 2012, would be good for about 25 electoral votes.

Take no notice of Libertas. He is just another right-wing parrot who is blinded by hate.
