Carter says that Nixon's experience allowed him to have good policies and that his personality flaws were what made him a bad President.

Kennedy:  This may come as a surprise, but I agree with Jimmy.  President Nixon made some bad decisions, and President Nixon made some decisions.  However, Governor Brown has made no decisions, so what conclusion is there to draw?  In my opinion, the only conclusion is that he is an inexperienced candidate on a post-election high who thinks he is ready to be President.

Carter releases some of his platform:

Abortion: I believe abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.

Gay rights: I believe in giving gay couples all the same rights as married couples. However, I still believe that marriage is between one man and one woman.

Economy: I believe in raising interest rates to defeat hyperinflation and in increasing govt. spending to reduce the unemployment rate.

Foreign policy: I will continue Nixon's and Ford's polciies of detente and realpolitik

Taxes: I will give middle-class and poor Americans a tax cut, while balancing the budget by raising taxes on the rich and large corporations.

Immigration: I believe we need to allow more qualified people to come to the U.S. legally. I also believe that illegals already in the U.S. should be given citizenship after they paid back all their taxes. I would support buidling a fence along the Mexican border and increase border security in order to prevent large amounts of people from coming to the U.S. illegally in the future.

Marijuana: I strongly oppose legalizing weed.

Enviornment: I support strengtening the power of the EPA and allowing it to become more active in protecting our environment and resources for future generations.

Renewable Energy: As this recent oil crisis has shown, we need to diversity our energy sources and promote renewable energy. As President, I promise that I will allocate large amounts of money so that the U.S. can get 20% of its energy from renewable sources by the year 2000.

This platform is also a response to Jerry Brown and Ted Kennedy, who argue that I do not have any specific policy ideas and that I do not have a vision for the country. This platform proves them wrong on both counts.

Like detente, creating the EPA, getting us out of Vietnam, helping out Israel during the Yom Kippur War, and promoting civil rights and integration.

Senator Kennedy agrees.  He claims, "I think we're all interested in knowing what else Governor Brown can promise."

Carter agrees with Jerry Brown and Ted Kennedy and says that there should be at least one debate between all the Democratic candidates. He also says that he is impressed that no one criticized his platform yet.

Ambassador Richardson travels to West Point, New York to give a speech to the cadets on leadership.  Later he travels to New York City to meet with Herbert Brownell, Robert Price, and Jock Whitney.  He would finish with a phone call to Representative Jim Leach of Iowa.

".........I am here today to announce that I am a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Today.......we face corruption.....and treason......in ALL the levels of the government. Tricky Dick should have faced trial for the crimes that he committed......against me.......against you......and against the American people! I promise........as your President.......to bring a new era of leadership........one in which the President is consulted by the American people....not by politicans that have been bought out by the elite........"

(When Stassen first begins speaking upon the box in the street corner, he is largely ignored by those walking to and fro, conducting their daily business. However, by the time he has concluded, he has drawn a small crowd of supporters.)

Jimmy Carter attacks Ford for pardoning Nixon, saying taht the former President should have been brought to justice and that Ford discredited that President's power of pardoning by using it on Nixon.

On the steps of the Alabama State Capital, George Wallace addresses a crowd of supporters.

My friends, America is at a struggling time, and this is a stressful election. We have a weak President who has no problem pardoning criminals, and Democratic candidates bickering over petty issues. My friends, I have had enough of this. And because of that, and my love for this great country, I am here today to announce that I will be seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the Unites State of America! I'm not doing this for myself, or for political gain. No, my friends, I am doing this for you, the hardworking American hero's who fight every day to make this country a leader in the world. I am doing this for the men fighting overseas, that they have a strong Commander in Chief. I am doing this so we can build our economy into the superpower of the world. I am doing this for the children of today, so that they may be the leaders of tomorrow. I am doing this because America deserves better than the current field! Join me, and together, America can be a great and prosperous nation! It's time that Washington trusts the people, and not Washington lobbyists! Thank you, and God Bless you all!

President Ford on live T.V:

My fellow citizens,

I have made a decision that will effect the whole world. I will pull all troops out of Vietnam by May 30th 1975 even troops that are there for different reasons I want the Vietnamese people to not be surrounded by our troops. Thank You all good night.

Jimmy Carter congratulates President Ford on withdrawing all U.S. troops and personnel from Vietnam. He says that the war has gone onf or long enough and since the U.S. can't win it, the best move would be to completely withdraw.
