The sitting Governors could still have a dialogue in the meantime.  This discussion is likely to take some time.

Here's another plan.  This one assumes that we use the current list of 125 voters given in the SoFA thread as a starting point.

It's a rather royal gerrymander than causes three pairs of sitting Senators to be squeezed into the same district.

California with Texas and Mississippi?

Maryland and DC with Alabama?

I suppose it certainly would be more interesting, at the very least.

I sort of doubt its viability, but it is interesting as you said.  While it wasn't the intended effect, it definitely tilts the Senatorial balance to the right, so I am certain that Gov. NickG wouldn't approve of it, so only one other governor would need to object to it for the plan to fail.

I know that you don't care to represent DC or MD, but I think that D4 under this plan would probably still be a safe seat for you, altho you might have to actually campaign next time. Smiley

Just to throw something in:

D1 (PA, NY): 26
D2 (WI, MI, IL, IN, OH, KY, TN, VA, NC, SC): 25
D3 (WV, MD, DC, DE, NJ, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME): 24
D4 (FL, GA, AL, MS, AR, LA, TX, OK, NM, CO, KS, MO, IA, NE): 24
D5 (AK, HI, WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, UT, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, MN): 26

Ugly as hell, but it works.

West Virginia is the only ugly bit about it, really.

As to Ernest's map, exchange NJ for VT and HI for TN, and I could *live* with it. The way it is now, this would mean violent strikes on Hawai'i and an interruption to your Marihuana supply. Smiley

Just noticed a small goof I made that doesn't affect the validity of any of the recent maps.  I left out new voter in DE off the map.

Yes it is. Here are the numbers:

District 1: 26
District 2: 24
District 3: 25
District 4: 23
District 5: 26

I think. I'm using an old pocket calculator so they may be off.

You have District 1 and 2 the wrong way round Wink. It is silly the way it workers, the district with the fewest number of states is district one and the most number of states is district five.

Well here's yet another map.  This one assumes that we use all 127 who are currently registered, so it adds a couple extra votes.

This map emphasises stability.  Districts 3 and 5 are unchanged and District 4 is only changed by the subtraction of Virginia.
EDIT: King moved to NM from CA.

Doesn't District 1 there have 28 compared to District 5 with 24? Also Districts 1 and 2 look odd. It would be constitutionally eligible though if you swapped MA for NJ, CT and RI.

With 127 voters (which is what this map is based on) any map with a maximum difference of 4 will be constitutional.  As drawn Districts 1 and 2 have 28 and 27 votes respectively with Districts 3-5 having 24 each.  Your proposed changes would  have the same characteristics, altho because of the numbering pecularities, MA would remain in District 1, CT, NJ, and RI would remain in District 2 and every other state in Districts 1 and 2 would switch places.

Neither is likely to be adopted, as in private discussions one of the Governors has expressed a strong desire to keep Minnesota out of the western district.
