I think Arlen will survive the primary. Whether he can survive the general or not is another story. It will all depend on if the GOP victory last night in Massachusetts has any legs.

Specter will win the primary, the question is more or less can he overcome the deficit the Democratic nominee for governor may have in the state.  He certainly got senority and that's proving to be the difference in the primary.

Pat Toomey is going to be the next senator of PA.  It's my gut instinct.

The polling, and the environment, agree with your gut.

LOL. His problem isn't making up the deficit of the Dem nominee for Gov. His problem is that he is seen as an out of touch political opportunist with no core values. The seniority is actually hurting him in the general but hey if it gets him through the primary I am all for it. Wink

I also concur with Ronnie's gut.

He wasn't a stand alone politician before he switched, he voted with the moderate senators from Maine on Strict constructionists judges and he supports moderate reforms like John McCain on Immigration issues and environment.

He has the endorsement of Joe Biden who was on the Judiciary Cmtee and that has sway in PA and has the endorsement of Ed Rendell.

I wouldn't count him out, he was kneck and kneck in the primary, he could pull it off in the general.

Rendell is a Southeastern Pol just like Specter that won't help him where he needs it. Biden isn't going to have the same pull he did last year. Also Rendell's approvals suck now after a big budget battle this summer.

Specter is an a**hole. The West and Northeast are through with him. The SE is starting to warry of him. He is done.

Biden will campaign for his son in DEL and he will have something to say about Pennsylvania when he goes back to Delaware.  Im not saying Specter will definately win, but he is far from endangered like Reid, Lincoln or Bennet is.
