Nixon narrowly wins as LBJ takes a lot of liberal votes from JFK.

Georgia would vote 60% for the ticket with Wayne Morse as VP?!

I don't see how Johnson does THAT well in the South when being a huge civil rights supporter. I can see him winning Texas and Arkansas, but..

Morse hated LBJ; he wouldn't have run with him.

Ah, I hadn't read into that. I couldn't think of a different runningmate. (Yes I know there's Hube Humphrey.)

Humphrey wouldn't want to be LBJ's running mate if that would increase the odds that JFK would lose.

Give MI and MN to Nixon. He only lost them by 1-2% in RL and LBJ would likely take away more than that from JFK, allowing Nixon to win those two states.

Yes, I thought of that, and Pennsylvania as well, but I didn't want to make it too easy for Nixon.

Humphrey had often felt humiliated by LBJ, and I believe he only accepted the VP nod in 64 because it was really his only chance to be nominated for President because he never had a great organization. HHH would've stayed regular.

With such a Democratic split, Nixon would win, agree
