Name the one-term President (in your opinion) and his/her dates of service.

My opinion: Andrew Cuomo, 2017-2021.

It'll be whoever becomes president in 2017.

Even if it's Hillary? BTW, what makes you so sure?

I have a strange feeling, if things don't improve, it will be President Barack Obama (2009-2013).

That's a very big if. You got to remember that Bush won reelection despite the fact that no new jobs were created in his first term (the first time since the Great Depression that this has occured) and despite the fact that his economic record was mediocre in comparison to Clinton's (in terms of (per capita) economic growth, job creation, average unemployment, and the stock market).

I hope I'm wrong, because so far in his first year, he's done a pretty good job with what he was given.  I still plan to vote for him again in 2012, but I don't know if the rest of the nation will agree with me, though.  Now, if this health care bill passes and is signed into law by the end of January, that will have a huge effect on 2010 depending on what's actually in the final bill.  I think if I were President Obama, I wouldn't wait until 2014 to activate everything.  I would activate it in 2012 so if he is defeated by a Republican challenger, they won't kill the bill before it takes effect.  They probably won't have enough time to implement everything by 2011, but by 2012, I would hope they could activate the bill.

With regards to the notion that we always give Presidents two terms; when was the last time we gave a Democrat two terms, besides Clinton?

...FDR. I've never considered that.

Not saying that Obama is automatically doomed, as part of that is due to special circumstances. Just some food for thought, though.

FDR is the correct answer, but just to be fair, Kennedy would have likely been reelected had it not been for his assasination.

In an ideal world, Obama will be the next one term president.  But it depends heavily on who the Republicans nominate as well as how things look in 2012.  If the Republicans nominate Romney, Obama will win easily.

I think Obama would probably stuggle most against Romney. It's Palin and Huckabee who'd be easy to beat.

Obama would crush Mr. 360, and I say this as a Massachusetts Republican.

^Agreed.  Romney is the definition of "politician" as well as "used car salesman" all in one.  All politicians lie to get elected, it's a given & should be expected (even forum favorite, do-no-wrong Barack Obama is a liar who'll do whatever he can simply to get into office), but it's never been so apparent before than with Mitt Romney.  One look and you know you can't trust him, and that's before he even opens his mouth to start speaking.  Not to mention the massive flips flops on serious issues; he doesn't stick to his guns.  Maybe it's because he's weak in his own stances or maybe he just rides the wave of public opinion at any given moment.  I cannot fathom how anyone would think he'd make a good leader for our country.

I despise the president, but I'd actually consider voting for him over Romney--I am that strongly against Mitt and in a race between the two, I'd be forced to choose the lesser of two very real evils, and the lesser of the two in this case is Barack Obama.  Mark my words and count this is my "bold prediction" Mitt Romney will never, ever be president, no matter the circumstances surrounding the country in 2012 nor the candidates.

My point is that this forum is overrun by posters who think just that about our president:  that he can literally do nothing wrong.  A large chunk of Obama's supporters, on this forum especially, are obsessed; he is our first "rock star" president.  He could start killing babies and there would be 50 people here defending him for doing it.

On the other hand, there are people like me who cannot find anything good whatsoever about him.  That is my right just as it's the right of those mentioned above.  The only real difference is that it's a lot more sickening and foolish to be so enamored with a politician as many posters here are with President Obama than it is to outright refuse to trust them as I do.
