This is great news for the Democratic party- Another Republican leaning District in Upstate NY goes Democratic due to division of the Republican party and arrogance of the the Limbaugh/Beck crowd. NY-23 is more important than the Governors Races in VA and NJ.
Republicans were expected to win the Governors Race of Virginia- The Democratic Statewide bench for the 2009 VA Governors Race was weak. McDonnell-R won statewide in the past- He is going to win by a double digit margin similar to the 1997 VA Governors Race- which Gilmore defeated Beyer-D. Had Don Beyer ran again in 2009- How would he have performed against McDonnell.  In NJ- Corzine-D is unpopular due to bad economy and scandals- If Corzine- It is due to his own unpopularity rather than the Democratic party's unpopularity. The NJ Governors Race is too close to call. Regarding the Special Election for NY-23- It is a Moderate Republican District- a moderate Republican like DeDe would have no problem holding this seat for life. but the wingnuts in the Republican party rejects DeDe because she is not Conservative enough so they recruit and endorse an accountant to run as an Independant- This is going to result in a Democratic win. Owens-D will win in the 2010 General election because- the far right Republican like Hoffman will be the official Republican nominee- and will lose alot of Independents and DeDe Republicans to Owens.

I don't know how much sway Dede Unspellable has on her voters, let alone how many people will actually hear about this.

I agree. The whole reason she was finally forced out was because she couldn't contact with her own people let alone enough people to win.

Got in as quickly as I could. Intrade swung wildly with the news.
