Can't wait to see the usual assortment of hacks defend it as a legitimate news source and balanced network.

I honestly don't know how anyone could vote otherwise, though I expect a bunch of people to say things along the lines of "Well MSNBC is just as bad!" And while it may be true that MSNBC is just as biased - I would disagree by the way, as MSNBC at least has Scarborough, Buchanan, and a few other actual conservatives, there's nobody on MSNBC comparable to Glenn Beck.

HN, like ALL TV news channels in the US.  Fox may suck a little more than CNN, but really, they all suck much more than they should.  At the break room in the building my class is at on Fort Hauchuca there is a TV.  It's been rigged to stay on FoxNews.  If you hit the channel up or down buttons on the front, the tv goes off.  So the six of us sit there and laugh at the insanity that comes out of it.  I haven't watched FoxNews in a long time, good God it's only gotten dumber.

Well MSNBC is just as bad!  (Sorry, I had to.)  Fox News has progressives -- Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers, Juan Williams, Mara Liasson, for example -- on for a comment during almost every show.  While Hannity and O'Reilly are quite obnoxious, they allow opposing viewpoints on their programs.  Cavuto consistently has someone on to counter him.

For the record, I watch CNN.  I don't mind Cavuto, Smith, and Baier...but cannot tolerate Beck, Hannity, or O'Reilly.

You mean they allow them to come and be harrased or shouted over.

When that happens (and it does), it tends to make the other person look better.

has anyone else noticed how most of Hannity and O'Reilly's guests are either tweedy ultra-liberal college professors, angry black radicals, or aging Hippie spokespeople, in other words people chosen because they conform to stereotypes of liberals that FOX wants to reinforce?

None of the people I named above fall into those categories.  They seem to be the most prominent progressive voices on the station.

I can't watch it.  I haven't watched it in years.

The only TV news I really watch is local stuff.

Can't watch it.  Its not news.  Many Republicans will openly admit that it is just another viewpoint.  That's what the whole controversy about their station is about.  Its a conservative viewpoint that doctors photos, cuts interviews, promotes Republican events, and stereotypes liberals.  MSNBC is almost like Fox, but I see some objectivity from time to time.  I think Fox is causing other media stations to change their formats into something similar to Fox, which I think will eventually destroy journalism in this country.

Fox can only be considered balanced if one were to presuppose an inherently liberal media system, and, therefore, a strongly conservative voice is the 'balance' to this liberalism. Fox News, in and of itself, is nothing of the sort.

Pure propaganda -nothing more.  I wish it were possible to ask the cable companies to take out specific channels, for this would definitely come front and center.

Garbage. I've hated all the people at CNN for a long time, too. MSNBC annoys me.

Of course it is biased, that can be taken for granted. I won't defend it, that is simply the truth.

I think Fox is causing other media stations to change their formats into something similar to Fox, which I think will eventually destroy journalism in this country.

I am almost 100% sure that MSNBC's partisanship is a direct result of Fox News' success.  They now occupy a niche market.  Fox News, in turn, was a result of the perceived liberal bias of print media and CNN (then referred to as the "Clinton News Network" by Repubs).  Hence, the whole "Fair and Balanced" nonsense.

There has been rumors of a future with a la carte channels for a long time now, don't know if it will ever come to pass.  We can dream.
