I'm going to say a Homosexual will never be elected president unless they are in the closet. They would not be able to win in the Democratic Primary with so many Latinos and Blacks participating, unless it is in some odd futuristic world we can't imagine.

Like some kinda crazy futuristic world where people don't actually care whether or not someone is gay or straight but simply judge them on the basis of their character?

I'm going to say we'd have a lesbian for President before we would a gay man, and this is coming from someone who represents the latter. Reason I say so is because it's a depressingly masculine society we live in and there seems to be a double standard applied to gay men vs. lesbians; what I mean is that society seems more accepting of lesbians because let's face it, it's basically every straight man's fantasy to see two girls getting it on, but the idea of two guys doing the same is viewed as "gross" and "disgusting" and is still pretty taboo.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.
But remember, it is the presidency we're talking about, but I guess a lot of men would vote for a lesbian candidate if she made an "ad with sexual undertones" , just to underestimate American men(then especially republicans who went to Sarah Palin rallies just because she is "hot").

There would simply be so much information and misinformation floating around about homosexuality that there is no way this candidate would make it past the primaries, and if they did, they would be crushed in the general election.

Can you imagine the questions about this person's private life that would come up during the campaign?  Can you imagine the blogs that would be flooding the internet?

This candidacy would be doomed. 

A gay person running for President is nothing like a gay person running for the House of Representatives in a gay friendly district you know.
