opebo, you've probably answered this a lot, but I've never read it.  Why are you in Thailand?

I prefer living here to living the the States:  better climate, much better food, and Thai women are nice.  Most importantly I can live like a king here on my income, instead of merely middle class like back home.  For example living in a hotel a few steps from the beach costs about $180 a month with maid service, and a delicious meal - with fresh ingredients (something you don't find in the US) costs about $1.

But though Thailand is my favorite, there are many other countries I'd like to try, particularly in South America generally.

You should try Somalia.

What's that?  I've heard of numerous religions but never that one.

Ilikeverin got it right, sort of. Asatru is a generic term for a number of very, very closely religions based on Germanic heathenism. I tend to follow the Anglo-Saxon branch, mostly because I'm 96% British, but Scandinavian and Pan-Germanic versions are also popular.

We are polytheistic, and believe in Woden, Thunor, Frigga, and such. And while Asatruars are generally conservative (infinitly more so than the ultra-liberal wiccans, to say the least), I imagine we'd probably scare the hell out of the religious right. Cheesy

Tell me more, i'm interested.

Asatru.

I a lot more papists, including myself, by my count.

Sorry, my bad. But in fact, the biggest religion here is "none". Smiley

Race/ethnic compostion: Irish, German, and some would say a touch of Mexican

Are you sure you're not "black Irish"? Those were Irish that mixed with Spaniards when the Spanish Armada wrecked on the Irish coast.

Myth. Inhabitants of Western Ireland have always had a prevalence for dark hair /light eyes and geneticists believe these are the original pre-celtic inhabitants of Ireland.

OMG *has dark hair and blue eyes*

It's a very respectable religion

Sure beats Catholicism.
It just caught me by surprise.

Actually, it is called the Society of Friends. Quaker is like Mormon in the sense that what the adherents are called seems odd in view of the actual name of the denomination.

I know that.
It's because George Fox once told a magistrate to "tremble before the word of the Lord" that they gained that name.
