Favorite Video games: I'm not a gamer. I hate video games.

Do/did you have any particularly negative experiences with video games? Hard to really see anyone "hating" video games other than cranky old people.

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Race: White (Italian, Finnish, German, German Jewish)

Religion: Atheism (ex-Catholic)

Height: The doctor's office says 5'6 and 3/4". My New York Driver License says 5'7". My Massachusetts ID says 5'8".

Weight: ~115 lbs (fluctuates between 110 and 120 lbs)

Born: Staten Island, NYC, NY, USA

Location: Staten Island, NYC, NY, USA

Occupation: Writer for a politician's office

Hair and eye color: Blond hair, brown eyes.

Siblings: 1 sister

Relationship Status: Single at present

Member of Atlas since: 16 April 2009

Sexual orientation: Gay

Political ideology: Progressive, with left-libertarianish streak

Personality: I don't know, weird, esoteric, abnormal. My personality varies widely depending both upon my mood on a particular day and on whether I am have taken any medications or drugs that alter my personality. Some days I am extremely introverted shy and quiet, while on other occasions I crave social interaction and can be excessively talkative.

Languages: I'm fluent only in English, my native language. I've studied Latin, Ancient Greek, Russian, German, Italian, and Arabic, however I've forgotten nearly everything that isn't Latin or Russian (and maybe a tiny bit of German). It doesn't help that I haven't done anything since graduating college to actually practice or study or use any of the foreign languages I studied.

Favorite TV Shows/Movies:  It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, Game of Thrones

Favorite Video games: Pokemon, easily. No other game has caused me to sink so many hours of my life trying to "catch 'em all" since I received Pokemon Red Version for Christmas as an 8-year-old. I also like fantasy RPGs like the Dragon Age series and Elder Scrolls series. Being immersed in total fantasy worlds like Skyrim- or Johto- to me

Favorite Sports: Hate sports. Tongue

Other interests: Reading (mostly nonfiction but trying to read more fiction), wasting time on the internet, history, politics beyond psephology, theatre (especially musical theatre), poetry (though I'm still too shy to take part in any of the poetry readings I go to), social activism, psychology

Do you live by yourself?: No, unfortunately, due to financial constraints

Have you ever been attracted to a person of the same-sex: Yes

Countries visited: USA (duh), Italy, Austria, Russian Federation, Bahamas, Curaçao (then still part of Netherlands Antilles and technically part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Tongue)

"Weird"? As opposed to what? "Normal"? Do you consider yourself "normal"?

Favorite Politicians (contemporary):  Joe Manchin, John Kasich, Brian Sandoval, Scott Walker, Andrew Cuomo, Justin Amash, Rand Paul, Heidi Heitkamp........quite the smorgasboard, I know. Tongue

You should probably leave or never mention that again.

Otherwise, most of that other stuff should allow you to fit right in.

What's so bad about Cuomo?  He seems like a pretty reasonable, moderate, pro-business Democrat.

If you've been stalking the Individual Politics section long enough, we had an Andrew Cuomo vs. the World series where this forum voted for Hitler over him in addition to several other unsavory figures. He is a pawn of the Wall Street elite who beat forum darling Zephyr Teachout which becomes even more shameful considering his wonderful father. But you'll learn more soon enough if you venture into that section. I believe another Cuomo poll is about to evoke a response.

As one of the leading lights of the Atlas Cuomo Hate Brigade, let me just go on record as saying that I'm far more disturbed that you're a fan of the Vikings and the Packers.  I mean, either one is fine but both is just wrong.

But, to answer your question for serious, in my case it's because my particular area of expertise as it were is public transit and other urban infrastructure-type things, and my sense is that Cuomo has shown a special disregard for best practices there (e.g. throwing away years of planning process to push an unnecessarily large, transit-free, fiscally irresponsible Tappan Zee replacement; arranging shiny photo-ops for "kick the can down the road" MTA union contracts all the while raiding from their balance sheet and preventing discussion about sustainable revenue sources, etc.).  Basically, if he was really a "good government" moderate I'd actually be totally fine with that even if I'd be to his left.  But he's pretty obviously a bad government moderate on some of the issues where I'm actually informed and qualified enough to pass judgment.

That's admittedly an idiosyncratic reason, more people will probably cite his picking a fight with the teacher's unions or something.  That and collaborating with Republicans to perpetuate a gross gerrymander in the State Senate, which is... well... yet another shining example of that "bad government" moderation. Tongue

Sorry for the mini-firehose of polemic there.  Welcome to Atlas!

Iowa has pretty diverse NFL allegiances.  I know Packers and Vikings are often rivals, but I like both teams.  That being said, it's a lot easier to be a Packers fan right now. Smiley   Mike McCarthy is a very good coach.
(Can't post links, but the title is "Iowa is a house divided when it comes to NFL fandom by the Ames Tribune)

As far as Cuomo goes, I hate gerrymandering, so that is too bad.   The reason I liked Cuomo was his "NY is Open for Business" ads, which made Cuomo seem like a bipartisan, pro-market kind of liberal, like Ron Wyden or Joe Manchin.  But I guess that's not true.....

Hello, new to the forum. Wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
A moderate in all cases. I've voted for both Democrats and Republicans. In 2016, I'm looking for a candidate that can unite our country. A moderate on social issues and on fiscal matters. I know that candidate is probably not out there, but I guess we'll see.

Looking forward to being apart of this forum.
