The JCP doesn't and neither does the DA. I could argue they are even more closed off than we are.

The DA isn't really an organised party in the strict sense; it is an alliance (clue is in the name) of differing viewpoints and has always been so.

We don't have a super secret forum.  So any debate there is is pretty much out there for all to see.

Maybe it's just so secret that no one but the JCP elite know... SmileyTongue

The forum is an attempt to end, not create, party secrecy.  Anyone in the party (who is actually in the party) is granted access to at least the main board.  There you can air any concerns out in the open for the whole party.  Much better than the PMing the JCP and other parties do

We're acting classy...like real life Democrats.  Maybe that should be our name?  The Real Democratic Party.  The RDP

Anyway, I'm running for Midwest Senate again and I'd like the support of my party, regardless of our name.  What's in a name anyway?  Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?  I do vote Aye for the name change, but I don't support the name LCP either.

Now cut the sh**t out.

I think you would be a great Senator, much better then the other choices and you have my full support.

Flag of the People's deep red,
It is often shrouded in our martyr'd dead
And before their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts blood dyed its ev'ry fold.
Then raise the scarlet standard high,
In its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag here.

Okay, so it would be alright if we called ourself an alliance then? We've already seen the DA play hardball behind the scenes. We've already seen that the decisions made are made by a few and not the whole body. I am not claiming we don't do that, but it's par for the course when it comes to parties. It's a bit unfair for everyone to expect we are completely open when they themselves are not. We will do what we can to be more open, but we aren't going to the extreme.

Good to know that Duke is at least active enough to bash the DA, rather than actually run his own party.

I'm not bashing the DA. I am pointing out that they, like us, engage in many of the same tactics. I am defending my party. But I know, I know, it was totally unacceptable that I was not online for most of yesterday. That was my fault.

A quick note to anyone not familiar with parliamentary procedure. Once a motion is made, it only requires a second. Then it is either voted on. Of course amendments may also be made, which also require a second before being voted on. And there can be amendments to amendments. But a third or forth or anything further than a second is not necessary.

What's wrong with that exactly? Fro example Franzl chose to run with Jedi by himself without any discussion with his party or his leadership. We did not choose to 'discipline' him. He chose not to remain on the ticket which was also his own decision. We also respected AndrewCT's right to run on Jedi's ticket even after we had one of our own. Again we respected that and got a bit of stick for not disciplining him Tongue

We are a loose body and always have been. And we are still here today.

I'd like to endorse the option of keeping the name, Regional Protection Party, as I think it symbolyses the core principles the party was founded on, and the one issue all the members of the party agrees on, and rallies to defend.

Besides I've always liked the name Regional Protection Party, it has something to it.

Well I understand those parties can be quite taxing.
