Why include two separate attempts on Rasputin?
I'd never known the name of the individual who actually assassinated Alexander II, though just like Princip he was part of a larger plot. I am very much aware of two other members of the group though - Aleksandr Ulyanov, brother of Vladimir; and Vera Figner.

Further candidates for inclusion:
The guy who tried to assassinate President-elect Franklin Roosevelt and hit the mayor of Chicago instead.
The anarchist who killed Romy Schneider (not that Romy Schneider, the other Romy Schneider).
The one who killed Umberto I of Italy
Udham Singh, avenger of the Jalianwalla Bagh Massacre
Simón Radowitzky. Merely assassinated the Police President of Buenos Aires, but survived to tell the tale and become a cause celebre for decades (he got a life term).
And assassins who became actual politicians: Buenaventura Durruti, rumored assassin of the Cardinal Archbishop of Zaragoza, rumored attempted assassin of the king of Spain.
And Erich Mielke.

A fine idea ! Smiley

It seems as if you want to keep it inside the last 120 years.
Otherwise, Brutus would be a strong contender Wink

We don't know the name of Massoud's assassin ?

Could do with a few (P)IRA names there - or maybe just the organisation itself.

No, Hans-im-Glück wants (I think) assassins of individuals, not "mass" assassins.

So, beware of including terrorists (anarchists, IRA, far leftists, Basques, fascist brigades, etc), who, I think, don't qualify to this survivor.

The IRA plot on Maggie Thatcher would still qualify. Actually, most ETA acts also aim at individuals.

Yes, I want idividual assassins, but when you give me the names of the assassins and the victim then it's no problem members of the IRA, ETA, ect to put into the list

And Erich Mielke.

In the list of Wikipedia are two assassins of Rasputin. We can put them together or delete one (Guseva).

The assassin of Tsar Alexander stands in the English Wikipedia, but i can delete him, because he wasn't very famous Wink

Gaetano Bresci - assassin of Italian King Umberto I - Yes, this man i forget Sad

Udham Singh - We can put him into the list, but then we must put many  names on the list. I think then it would be to long

About Simón Radowitzky i never heard. Give me more details.

The assassin who killed Sissy i find not very important.

Giuseppe Zangara - assassin of Anton Cermak, mayor of Chicago, Illinois, and would-be assassin of American president Franklin Delano Roosevelt; This man i forget in the list and he is worth to be inside

Erich Mielke was only a murder. He kills two policemen and i find as person he was important, but he was not a assassin who killed important persons.

But the deed was. And very important. It should be in. Maybe make it a group entry like with Indira's bodyguards.

Important enough to have a district named for him! Also a very interesting story. I want him in.

Jewish boy from Kiev who was involved in the 1905 revolution as a teenager, fled to Argentina after that - where there were similar struggles between anarchist workers and heavily armed police willing to use their guns. Assassinated (threw a bomb into his car) the man directly responsible. Was given life without parole rather than a death sentence because he was not yet 21, a condition under Argentinian law at the time. Was a hero to the country's anarchists, though. Especially after it leaked out that the director of the prison had anally raped him (I'm not making this up). Pardoned in the early 30s but deported out of Argentina at the same time. Went on to fight in the Spanish Civil War and then to several decades of broken-down retirement in Ciudad de Mexico. That's all I remember off the top of my head.

Alright, I can live with that. Smiley

Important perhaps not, but it was very much a political assassination. They didn't just shoot two random cops, but a specific target. (I'd need to read up a little on details before saying anything wrong here.)

Okay, Both are on the list Smiley

@Lewis
I read his story of Udham Singh one more time and now i think he must be on the list.

Simón Radowitzky is a very interesting person and his life is like a movie, but I think he does not fit with the others. The others had all of a particular person as a target. Secondly, I think he is too unknown.

Erich Mielke is a little bit different and he isn't really what i search for this Survivor, but Mielke is a well known person and the assassination of the two policemen was a very important in the late Weimarer Republic. I put him on the list.

When other forumers and Survivor junkies have more suggestions it would be very nice.

I found another famous assassin. The both man who killed King Carlos I of Portugal 1908

But as far as i know, he DID have a particular person as a target. His intended target was Ramon Falcon, the chief of police at the time. Falcon was responsible for many massacres during workers strikes or public displays by anarchists, socialist, etc. To break up demonstrations he usually ordered his men to do it with extreme violence, dozens of people were killed because of him. In fact he once ordered an attack on a funeral procession where socialists and anarchist were transporting the coffin of the murdered workers in the demonstrations of 1909. He was a disgusting man, and he subsequently became a sort of poster boy by all the military dictatorships that followed.

Also Radowitzky threw a bomb in falcon's car when the guy was returning from the funeral of a fellow police officer. I Think he can qualify for this game, but that's just my opinion Tongue

Plus his story is pretty interesting and I'm sure he would do well in the survivor considering he killed one of the most despicable man in this list Wink

Mielke really is an "outsider" in your list: he doesn't fit the others, I think.

And what about Massoud ? The problem is that you've got 4 unsure names of assassins. And it's not good to put groups on your list.
But, well, it must be, at least, discussed and thought about.

And do you confirm that you don't want "old" ones, like Brutus ?
(He was the first (?) big political assassin, after all...)
Of course, that would mean to check Egyptian history, ancient Greek history, medieval Chinese and Japanese histories, Muslim history, Ottoman history, etc...

And another idea, given by Hashemite in his topic in this board: Maxime Brunerie, who failed in his attempt on Jacques Chirac in 2002 ?

@Sewer Socialist

Squeaky Fromme and Dan White are in the game

@fab

Maxime Brunerie is a good idea i will add him. With Massoud, there gives no name of hid assassin, only speculations. Your idea with assassins of all time that would be too complicated. Your big Survivor is only 20th century and i want to read the posts when we make a Survivor of the most important people of all the time and Jesus will be eliminate early Grin

Mielke is a outsider in this list, but i think a good one Wink

@Lewis

Mijailo Mijailović, the assassin of Anna Lindh is a good idea and i put him on the list. The assassin of Olof Palme is unknown Sad

I can wait to start the survivor, maybe there gives more suggestions.

In case of a tie, the first criteria will be the total of votes received in previous rounds; if there’s still a tie, I'll decide who is out.

You can EDIT your vote but only for 10 minutes.

This round you have 48 hours to eliminate one assassin

Have fun Wink
