Yeah, I hate it when there is someone I want to take out badly, but nobody else does. On that note, I hope Arafat & Begin are eliminated soon. Wink

ROUND 13

A bad round for islamist thinkers: Qutb and Maududi are out !

A very widespread vote, except in group C (with a big duel between Honecker and Tourabi).
In group D, up to 8 leaders received votes !

Next round, we will fasten things by eliminating 2 history makers in each group. You've got 2 votes but you can't cast 2 votes for the same leader.
Enjoy this simple rule !

Group A: Qutb 6, Kim Philby 4, Deng Xiaoping 2, Zinoviev 1, Park 1

Behind bars, but harmful nonetheless...

Group B: Maududi 7, Blair 3, Eden 2, Clinton 1, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto 1

Behind beard, but harmful nonetheless...

Group C: Honecker 9, Tourabi 5

Maybe Erich should have done the contrary: kiss Katarina Witt (this cute ice-skater: the only sportswoman from DDR to be "normal") and just diplomatically smile to uncle Leonid...
But he was loyal, Erich...

Group D: Walton 4, Hayek 3, Begin 2, Arafat 1, Gomulka 1, Gowon 1, Yamamoto 1, Porfirio Diaz 1

The master of stupid mass-consumption is also a big Arkansan, so Hillary was fond of him...

Group E: Trujillo 6, Castro 3, Princip 2, Ho Chi Minh 1, Baden-Powell 1, Kohl 1

No, it's not an episode of Zorro... No, it's not Don Diego de la Vega...

No, it's not Monastorio...

Group F: Bhumibol 6, McNamara 3, Chiang Kai-shek 1, Mountbatten 1, Hassan II 1, Allende 1, Khrushchev 1

It's forbidden to talk about this king. But maybe we can talk about his hat... ROFL

ROUND 14

Victims from everywhere...
The results begin to bring surprises: don't focus only on big names, there are also nasty "middle" or "little" men...

I'm relieved that Castro is just out, but, well, not many of you helped Wink Ah, "la revolucion"...
Chiang Kaï-shek is the big winner of this round...

And old vote-getters are eventually eliminated: Hayek, McNamara and Deng (while another one is still here: al-Tourabi).
I'm sad Deng is out: sure, Tiananmen, sure, he was part of Mao's clique in the beginning, sure, you may say that China is more capitalist than the US now, but, well, he was a big man.

Group A: Deng Xiaoping 7, Kim Philby 5 (7 in previous rounds), McArthur 5 (0 in previous rounds), Hoover 2, Zinoviev 2, Billy Graham 1, Zapata 1, Tito 1

Another bad guy is out: he dared to smoke in public... Wink

The KGB seemed to control the Soviet post office, even in the messy 1990 year...

Group B: Eden 7, Tirpitz 7, Blair 2, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto 2, Jaruzelski 2, Kerensky 2, Clinton 1, Mannerheim 1, de Gaulle 1, Zhukov 1

Group B is the group of well-dressed men !

Group C: Stroessner 7, Selassie 6, Tourabi 4, Wilson 3, Andropov 2, Franz-Joseph 2, Dimitrov 1, Menem 1

Still young but already very... smiling

Even Gods on Earth get old...

Group D: Begin 6, Hayek 5, Gowon 4, Thatcher 4, Arafat 3, Gomulka 1, Lin Biao 1, Yamamoto 1, Rawlings 1

See how old Friedrich is trying to push forward his breast ?
Well he wasn't really able to compete with this other Hayek (complete names are really needed when you google people...)

What is Menahem looking at ?

Group E: Fujimori 5, Fidel Castro 4 (6 in previous rounds), Allen Dulles 4 (1 in previous rounds), Princip 3, Kitchener 3, Yoshida 2, Ho Chi Minh 1, Baden-Powell 1, Kohl 1, Peron 1, Zahir Shah 1

Group E is the group of kind South American leaders.

Group F: Chiang Kai-shek 11, McNamara 5, Hassan II 3, Malenkov 2, Mountbatten 1, Al-Banna 1, Allende 1, Reagan 1, Lee Kuan-yew 1

Maybe he should have put real wheels to his chair, given his constant failures...

Bob preparing the next holidays.

I suspect that you love also one picture Wink

BTW, Salma is not AT ALL my type of women (I'm more Grace Kelly-Ingrid Bergman-Bibi Andersson-Jessica Biel, without neglecting, on the other hand, Halle Berry e.g. Wink).
But you may say she may be my type of breast.

Well, far away from 20th century history makers...

To everybody:

please note that, next round (n°16), we will vote as usual, but we will also vote to choose whose history maker will be immune in round 17.

ROUND 15

The turnout was very disappointing: only 10 voters...
As soon as I put photos of young ladies, you escape, you horrible puritans ! Wink

Come and vote, guys !

Gowon, Allen Dulles and Jaruzelski cruised to victory.
Dimitrov prevailed over Tourabi, who is now our biggest vote-getter !
Hassan II and McArthur were smaller winners.

And Sékou Touré, despite being a dictator and having opened a concentration camp, still doesn't gather many votes Sad

Group A: McArthur 4, Zinoviev 3, Sékou Touré 2, Hoover 1

"I'll be back, you little b*st*rds from this communist forum !"

Group B: Jaruzelski 5, Blair 2, Morgenthau 1, Neto 1, Meir 1

"Merry 1981 Christmas, my fellow Polish comrades !"

Group C: Dimitrov 5, Tourabi 4, Franz-Joseph 1

"Wait Joseph, let me carry you on my back, you should rest, Light of the Earth"

Group D: Gowon 6, Arafat 3, Thatcher 1

"I want my money b(l)ack"

Group E: Allen Dulles 8, Princip 2

"How does he dare to touch me ?!... One day, I'll kill this guy !"

Group F: Hassan II 4, Reagan 3, Al-Banna 2, Khrushchev 1

"They are all my friends... They cannot be but my friends..."

ROUND 16

Thanks God (and to you), there was no tie for the immunities... But, well, maybe this rule was set a little early, as I don't think any of the immune leaders are really threatened.
There were some surprising votes: Makhno, Sartre, Vargas (Wink) or my own Franz Joseph (probably the worst vote, but I like his moustache Grin and, in fact, I didn't have someone that I really wanted to save in this group at the moment).

The big news is that Hassan al-Tourabi is eventually out !
Unbelievable !

A bad round for Soviet leaders: 3 down (even if it's a bit hard for Bukharin, who wasn't so bad).
And after Begin, Arafat is eliminated.

Group A: Zinoviev 7, Park Chung-hee 2, Hoover 2

Purged international big brother.

Group B: Mannerheim 4, Blair 3, Clinton 2, Smuts 2

International gravedigger and national fence digger.

Group C: Tourabi 10, Franz-Joseph 1

Former national big brother.

Group D: Arafat 7, Thatcher 3, Shevardnadze 1

Myth and reality, sort of.

Group E: Bukharin 5, Ho Chi Minh 3, Kitchener 2, Princip 1

Total purger and intellectual dissenter.

Group F: Malenkov 5, Al-Banna 2, Khrushchev 2, Mountbatten 1, Lee Kuan-Yew 1

Bishop and mandarin.

ROUND 17

A "classic" cleaning in this round, with some dictators, authoritarian guys, ideologues or FFs turned dictators: Sékou Touré, General Ershad, Franz Joseph, Hô Chi Minh, Al-Banna.
Xahar has left us for some rounds (Sad) and he is wrong: Ershad is out...

While Hô prevailed over Kohl (!) due to my first tie-breaking rule, I have been forced to use my second tie-breaking rule, the so-called "dictatorial rule".
And so, I've kept Reagan over Hassan al-Banna, viewing Reagan as a more influential figure in 20th century history.
The first time I was forced to break the tie myself was between JF Dulles and Joe McCarthy (with the former being kept, as more influential than the latter).
I don't like to do it but, well, whatever the importance of Muslim Brotherhood, a two-term US president with the end of the Cold War in sight and the economically-liberal trend (at least on paper...) that began in the late 1970s should be kept, I think.

A turnout of 11 isn't enough... Come, come back and vote !

Group A: Sékou Touré 6, Park Chung-hee 3, Hoover 2

Cutter of opponents.

Group B: Morgenthau 4, Blair 3, Smuts 3, Clinton 1

Cutter of Germany.

Group C: Franz-Joseph 8, Kadar 3

Cutter of Balkans and Europe.

Group D: Ershad 5, Shevardnadze 3, Porfirio Diaz 1, Pilsudski 1, von Braun 1

Cutter of constitution.

Group E: Ho Chi Minh 4 (12 in previous rounds), Kohl 4 (2 in previous rounds), Peron 2, Kitchener 1

Cutter of Empires.

Group F: Al-Banna 4 (5 in previous rounds + organizer's decision), Reagan 4 (5 in previous rounds), Khrushchev 2, Lee Kuan-Yew 1

Cutter of hands.

ROUND 18

A bad round for conservative heroes: the 1980s duet is out !!
And some authoritarian or dictatorial rightist or populist:
Park (Gully may rejoice at last ! Wink),
Smuts (OMG, I should have taken part in its ousting Sad I've voted too quickly),
Peron (well... I must say I'm a bit sad... a bad guy but so fascinating.... like Lin Biao, BTW, who is still there whereas having been more extremist than Mao during the Cultural Revolution !).

Zahir Shah, Hoover, Blair, Khrushchev become more and more big vote-getters.

Group A: Park Chung-Hee 6, Hoover 4, Tanaka 1

Quiet, serious, harsh and sad picture. Quiet, serious, harsh and sad regime.

Group B: Smuts 5, Blair 2, Zhukov 2, Clinton 1, Kerensky 1

Curtin: "I'm the best" / Fraser: "I'm the wisest" / McKenzie King: "I'm the longest" / Smuts: "I'm the whitest" / Churchill: "I'm the worst, except all the others..."

Group C: Kadar 6, Andropov 2, Menem 2

False good comrade to Hungarians, since real good comrade to Moscow.

Group D: Thatcher 4, Pilsudski 3, Porfirio Diaz 2, Lin Biao 2

"At last, I've found a real and solid man for the rest of my life and you oust us ?!?"

Group E: Peron 6, Zahir Shah 4

"All these stupid people are just mine. Keep smiling, Evita !"

Group F: Reagan 7, Khrushchev 3, Kaunda 1

Candidate Reagan at work with his campaign's international security staff.

I thought of two more potentially fun rules!

One where you can't vote for the person voted for in the post above yours.
And one where we vote to reintroduce Che Guevara John Paul II[/i] one eliminated person per group.

You're welcome.
In fact, I've already thought about those 2 rules Smiley

And you'll see that the first one will be used during stage 2.

The second one will be used at the end of stage 1, but the Che and Our Holiness won't be among those we will be able to bring back... because this rule will be a bit limited during stage 1.

So, I would say VERY CLEVER ideas, Lewis Wink, even though your attempt to put John Paul and Guevara at the same level doesn't abuse me Grin You obviously know which of the 2 would have the best chances of coming back....

That would be too hard to see some leaders eliminated really long before...
But, don't worry, this rule will be back later...
I've already said too much about all this !

RESULTS OF ROUND 19

A very splitted vote and many slim victories: Khrushchev, Kitchener, Wilson, King Hussein.
Only Tony and Porfirio were more clear winners.

A very splitted vote and a... splitted explanation. No "trend" in this round, but this special rule aims precisely at this: making some new names appear... like Dayan, LBJ or Oppenheimer.

Group A: King Hussein 3, Dayan 2.5, Billy Graham 1.5, Tanaka 1, Hoover 0.5, Soong 0.5

Embracing peace-broker. Sort of.

Group B: Blair 3.5, Zhukov 2.5, Clinton 1, Kerensky 1, Neto 1, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto 0.5, Trudeau 0.5, Karamanlis 0.5, Lawrence 0.5

Reasonable, consensual and moderate Third Way leader.
"How did you dare to oust me ?!?"

Group C: Wilson 2.5, Andropov 2, Oppenheimer 2, Cabral 1, De Klerk 1, Lumumba 0.5, Ortega 0.5, Menem 0.5, Erhard 0.5, Indira Gandhi 0.5

Peace prophet setting an example.
"Ousted ? Gonna hit ya !"

Group D: Porfirio Diaz 4.5, Gomulka 3.5, Pilsudski 1.5, Lin Biao 0.5, Shevardnadze 0.5, Menzies 0.5

Mexican army, Mexican medals.

Group E: Kitchener 3, Princip 2.5, Kohl 2.5, Zahir Shah 2, Nasser 0.5, Fraser 0.5

"Ousted ? Gonna kill YOU !"

Group F: Khrushchev 3.5, Lee Kuan-Yew 3, LBJ 1.5, Allende 0.5, Zhou Enlai 0.5, Kaunda 0.5, Pham Van Dong 0.5, RFK 0.5, Churchill 0.5

Soviet reforms in action.
"Hurray ! Dear comrades, I'll come back with some food !"

RESULTS OF ROUND 20

A balanced result, if you want to see only left/right divide: 3 "Western" guys (Graham, Kohl, Lee), 3 Eastern guys (Zhukov, Andropov, Gomulka).

But it's better to see that Graham was tied with Tanaka, that Zhukov prevailed over Clinton with difficulty, that Oppenheimer wasn't so far from Andropov and that Kohl gathered a small majority against Gavrilo Princip.
Only Gomulka and Lee were easily ousted.

I must say that I'm really sadly sad, for the first time (other times, that was fake sadness, for some "beloved" dictators...), with this really too early ousting of Kohl: ECC-EU, reunification, relations with the USSR, relations with France,... well, he really was not a bad guy.
I can understand Reagan and Thatcher, I can't understand Kohl.
Anyways, game, always game ! Grin

Group A: Billy Graham 4 (3 in previous rounds), Tanaka 4 (2 in previous rounds), Hoover 2, Zapata 1

Stick to the (account) book.

Group B: Zhukov 4, Clinton 3, Keynes 2, Golda Meir 1, Karamanlis 1, Modibo Keita 1

Soviet breast, Soviet medals.

Group C: Andropov 5, Oppenheimer 3, Ortega 2, Erhard 1

President of the KGB ? A funny work, you know...

Group D: Gomulka 7, Pilsudski 2, Lin Biao 1, Yamamoto 1

Polish people, be happy: friends all around you !

Group E: Kohl 5, Princip 4, Nasser 2, Rosa Luxembourg 1

Fat man, big country, great history.

Group F: Lee Kuan Yew 6, Kaunda 4, LBJ 1, RFK 1

Are you so mad that you've eliminated me ? Don't you know I control everything ?

RESULTS OF ROUND 21

Holy sh*t ! You are wonderful, guys ! Grin
The only f*ucking voter who has wasted his votes in this round is... me !
Maybe I should drop these rules... or not vote first Wink

Anyway, given the BIG battle between Ortega and Balfour (14 votes in this group alone...), the other groups had a lower turnout and many clear victories for Golda Meir, Pilsudski (at last) and LBJ.
It was more difficult for Yeltsin (sorry for my French spelling Eltsin) and Zahir Shah (at last), but they made it.

Group A: Yeltsin 4, Tanaka 3, Hoover 1, Baker 1

Freedom fighter.

Drunk dancer.

Group B: Golda Meir 6, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto 1, Kerensky 1, Trudeau 1

A real male leader.

Group C: Balfour 7, Ortega 6, McMillan 1

Balfour deals with the (peaceful) Palestine... Oups !

Group D: Pilsudski 6, Rockefeller 1, Shevardnadze 1, Benazir Bhutto 1

After Porfirio Diaz and Zhukov, the 20th Century History Makers Survivor is pleased to introduce our third over-medalled breast.

Group E: Zahir Shah 4, Nasser 3

"Read this, powerful King".

Group F: LBJ 7, Mountbatten 3, Kaunda 1, RFK 1

"Gonna bomb ya, bastard forumers".

RESULTS OF ROUND 22

A bad round for Asian leaders: Daddy Bhutto, Tanaka (at last !), Mahathir, Yamamoto.

Except in group B, the winners managed swift victories, even Kaunda (thanks, guys ! Wink)

Princip, Clinton, Hoover, Oppenheimer, Mountbatten are now "old" vote-getters and some may well fall in the current 23rd round, which is again a "usual" one.

We really miss Xahar and now Kalwejt Sad.

Group A: Tanaka 6, Hoover 2, Stolypin 1, Baker 1, Armstrong 1, Giap 1, JFK 1

Corrupted guys of the World, unify !

Group B: Zulfikar Ali Bhutto 4, Clinton 3, Neto 2, Poincaré 2, Trudeau 1

"See this one ?"

Group C: Mahathir 7, Oppenheimer 3, Ortega 1, Liu Shaoqi 1

"Defeated again... Bouhouhou !"

Group D: Yamamoto 7, Lin Biao 3, Rockefeller 1, Benazir Bhutto 1

Banzaï ?... *ahem*.... Yes, Banzaï, after all.

Group E: Nasser 8, Princip 4

"What ? What are you saying ?! Me, ousted again ?!"

Group F: Kaunda 9, Mountbatten 3

La vieillesse est un naufrage.

RESULTS OF ROUND 23

A swift vote in a quite clear round: only 2 or 3 names in 5 groups... 4 clear victories for Bill Gates, Mountbatten, Lin Biao and Oppenheimer.

A bad round for Anglo-Saxon guys: 5 out of 6 losers !

The forum has killed 2 Bills, especially Bill Clinton in a tie with Agostinho Neto.

Herbert Hoover and Gavrilo Princip are still resilient, but will they resist the current round, with its special rule of 2 eliminated history makers, with 2 votes for 2 different ones in each group ?

Group A: Bill Gates 9, Hoover 1, Giap 1

Bill Gates dealing with free-markets rules.

Group B: Clinton 5 (13 in previous rounds), Neto 5 (4 in previous rounds), Poincaré 2, Trudeau 1

Bill and Hillary Clinton. Oups...

Ahem... No comment.

Group C: Oppenheimer 6, Vargas 3, Lumumba 1, Menem 1

The real creator of the atomic bomb isn't Oppenheimer but Oppenheimer's hairdresser, with his famous "mushroom special cut".

Group D: Lin Biao 8, Rockefeller 3

Right, centre and left: all the tendencies were represented inside Chinese dictature !

Group E: De Valera 6, Princip 5

As jovial as ever, Eamon is enjoying a match of this ugly... British OMG... sport.

Group F: Mountbatten 9, Zhou Enlai 1, Ben Gourion 1

Mountbatten paving the way for a peaceful future.

RESULTS OF ROUND 24

A "historic" round: Gavrilo Princip is out !
And Hoover too  (but it was hard: only 4 votes in this round again...) !
Gavrilo Princip gathered 31.5 votes before being ousted...

As in every round with 2 votes, new names managed to get big results: Bourguiba (eliminated), Ben Bella (saved after a tie), Houphouët (eliminated).

Group A: Soong May-Ling 8, Hoover 4, Stolypin 3, Tito 2, Atatürk 2, JFK 1, Giap 1, Armstrong 1

Guess who is the chief...

"Hello ! I wish to talk to the US economic growth, please"

Group B: Neto 7, Poincaré 3 (4 in previous rounds) Karamanlis 3 (1.5 in previous rounds), Lawrence 3 (0.5 in previous rounds), Trudeau 2, Kerensky 1, Wiesel 1, Stresemann 1, Kook 1

"Democracy ? Smells bad..."

An old French coin.

Oh, but that Shevardnadze photo is cruel. Dread to think how you found that.

Oh, no problem, don't you remember that we've seen him on all world TVs ?
He was shown like that in 1995, after he escaped a bomb attack by some clans.

Shevardnadze was a "classic" regional Soviet leader, but he rather protected Georgians after 1972.
But I'm a bit sad he has been ousted since he was a real reformist after 1985. Even Aleksandr Iakovlev was, sometimes, a bit more conservative than him.
Apart from Gorbachev, he was the most reformist. That should be noted.

So, this photo was intended to put all the shame on the forum ! Wink

Oh, that's easy. He flew to Georgia, abducted the old man, roughed him up a bit, took a picture and uploaded it to imagehost.

Yep. And Dave paid for the airplane bill. I convinced him this would boost this forum's traffic...
