No, it is like the President of Mexico deciding who can live in what parts of San Diego or San Antonio and who can't contrary to the legal arrangements that now exist. The West Bank is Arab.

My opinion of Mike Huckabee has just sunk greatly. Valid pro-Israeli sentiments do not rightly extend to coddling the suicidal tendencies of its ultra-nationalist Right.  Huckabee has likely ensured that he can't win outside the South except in the safest GOP areas.

It is unfortunate. It is best that there be a genuine contest in 2012.

All I have to say is that if the West Bank is Israel's, they need to let the people there vote.  Somehow, I doubt the Israelis are about to allow Fatah to have approximately 25-30 seats in the Knesset, which would be the result, and thus be the largest party, assuming all West Bankers vote for Fatah.

One could say the same of former German territories east of the Oder and Neisse rivers that are now mostly northern and western Poland. One could say the same of any First Peoples tribes in the New World from Canada to Tierra del Fuego, or that descendants of the Anglo-Saxon and later Viking invaders of Britain should leave so that Romans and Celts could take over.

Muslims have been living in Palestine since AD 636 when the Arabs overpowered outposts of the Byzantine Empire, so the Arab/Palestinian claim to the West Bank is quite valid through continuity from antiquity.

Mike Huckabee has shown his gross ignorance of foreign policy. One does not break the continuity of foreign policy without a careful study of the consequences for all concerned.
