As my final act in the senate, I would like to propose this:

Senate Closure Act

It is proposed that for a week before the midterm elections and the Presidential and Senate election, no new acts, bills or resolutions will be introduced into the senate, and no votes will take place on any current acts, bills or resolutions. It is also proposed that the senate can be recalled at any stage of this time by the President, and that discussion on already tabled bills and acts may be allowed to continue. It will come into effect the weekend before the third midterm elections.

(The reason for this act is to allow the senators to campaign for re-election, or for President. It would allow the senate to continue discussing legislation, but also not allow bills to be effected by Senators busy for campaign reasons).

if ou care to look, Senator, you will see that this won't come into effect until after I am no longer a senator. It is my belief that we should only have senators legislating when their attention is truly turned towards it, not re-election. This would increase the quality of the senate, as well as allow for senators to have equal time as their opponents to campiagn.
