Not overly newsworthy, as VPs almost always run for president, but since some folks around here expressed doubts that someone as old as Biden would be in 2016 would actually run for prez, I figured I'd post this:

If he did run, I doubt he'd win (unfortunately Sad). I think Hillary would is more likely to win.

Joe Biden was never very popular among Democratic voters.  He is an extremely ambitious man, but I don't see any reason to make him President.  He should be happy being Vice President.

I like Joe and I'd be gald to see him as President. If Obama administration be popular in 2016 (assuming he'll be reelected), Biden should clinch the nomination and I would imagine Obama endorsing him over other candidates.

One problem: He'll be 74. Thus he better serve one term (Reagan left office at 78)

President Joe Biden would quite possibly be the best thing that's ever happened to America.

So what?  8 years out, he thinks he'll run?  74 is very different from 66, and he'll discover that.

It just 2 years more than McCain in 2008

Beside old leaders are all but rare in world history: de Gaulle, Adenauer, Meir, Churchill, Mitterrand...

We shall see

Od course you'd prefer Mark Warner, don't you Wink

I wouldn't mind this, assuming he is all there mentally in eight years. Would sure kick the crap out of a Jindal or Crist ticket (although perhaps not a Huntsman ticket). It's also difficult to see who the natural heir of an Obama presidency would be just yet, so speculating about the current VP is unsurprising.

I've yet to understand what the Mark Warner love affair is all about. Schweitzer seems more appropriate.

During his term, Virginia was the best managed state in the Country.

That was one study and Virginia was tied with Utah...

Nor does that alone qualify someone to be President. Some foreign policy heft is nice too, which is of course why the argument for John Huntsman will be so good in 2016.

It's nothing against Mark Warner and he may someday make a great presidential candidate, but the obsession is a bit overblown to me.

If Biden runs again in '16 and manages to get elected, I think he would decide not to run for reelection in 2020 and let whoever he'd pick as VP to have the honor.

More than that, I think he'd state flat out in 2016 he plans to seek only one term.  (And I think there's a better than even chance he'd pick a woman for a running mate, maybe Hillary.)

But the way the Obama Presidency is going, we're likely to see a strong "outsider" challenge.  The Democrats with outsider identities in the last 3 elections were Bill Bradley, Howard Dean and Barack Obama.   Each did better than the last.  If Obama is deemed a disappointment by the base, you'll see probably a few reformers through their hat in the ring: Schweitzer, Feingold, Sherrod Brown for example...

I'm not sure if he would make a one-term pledge just because that would make him a lame duck President from the get go. But who knows? It sounds like McCain was pretty close to doing it. I do think its pretty likely that the Dem candidate for VP will be a woman, if the nominee isn't one already. Gillibrand comes to mind.

A 73 year old presidential candidate is going to pick a 69 year old running mate?
