Michael Dukakis -- forget how he does it, wins the 1988 election just barely over George HW Bush. What happens in his (presumed) 4 years as President?

The country becomes a much better place.

There certainly would not have been a Gulf War, because Saddam wouldn't have invaded Kuwait. (Saddam received approval from Bush's Secretary of State before he invaded Kuwait.)

The economy would have been better. Don't know if it would have been appreciated by the media, but trust me on that one.

All in all, Dukakis was a decent guy and would have been an above-average President.

Saddam received approval from James Baker to invade Kuwait.  Is this nonsense in the same category as "Bush knew about 9/11" or can you actually prove this?Huh?

Maybe Bandit was referring to the role of ambassador Gillespie at the time? Remember that there was some confusion about  she giving the impression that the United States would not oppose the invasion. But that was clarified afterwards.

He's a paid RNC troll because he wants some facts? If you can't back up what you are saying, Bandit, maybe you shouldn't say it. You made a pretty serious accusation so provide some facts.

Come on now, Keystone Phil, we all know the Republican National Committee has for the past decade been hiring people to post and repost right-wing B.S. in Internet forums. You can tell because some of these folks post 24/7 and don't have time for any other job.

Anytime you see a new account crop up out of nowhere that doesn't do anything but deny statements made by progressives, odds are it's a paid RNC operative.

Let's see, assuming the world survives the massive rift in teh time space continuum that causd this things we go hard left for 2 years.  Probably no Universal health care, but taxes would go up sharply, the economy would slow to a crawl and welfare would boom.

Massive aid would be sent to teh Soviets propping htem up for a while.

2 years later the Republicans take the House and Senate.  Governement grinds to a hlat for 2 years with many programs getting underfunded.

In a shocking upset, Steve Forbes wins the nomination.  He wins the White House and begins slashing left and right.  He can't get hsi Flat Tax, but does get a flatter tax.

The conservatives do it all the time. Somebody needs to play dirty with them like they've done with us.

I bet Bandit thinks the republicans are responsible for the deaths of Elvis, JFK Jr., Vito Corleone, and the disappearance of Amelia Erhardt.
Of course, i cant prove ehat he thinks so you'll just have to take my word for it.
I should be getting my check from Ed Gillespie for saying that within 2 weeks!

Here's a great piece about the Dukakis Presidency:

http://dangfunnypolitics.com/dukakis.html

In the summer of '92, a depressed Dukakis wrote a letter to his staff. "We must begin a huge program of progressive government spending now, including free mass transportation for every man, woman and child. Because it is not likely that this government will be reelected."
