I can't include independents with 8 options that's why i'm using who you are supporting. I want to see if this mirrors the true divide of the country.

third option for me.

I guess you could call it a suburb-like area, although it technically isn't s suburb.

What exactly is the difference between a suburb and a exburb? The second phrase is kind of new to me.

Major City - Bush

Isn't it odd that most of the votes here for Bush are from major cities and the votes for Kerry are from suburbs? Smiley

I think it's a word that people made up to sound more important.

YES. I was just thinking that. I suppose it is somewhat true that cities in conservative areas often cover more land area, so they would have a better chance of living in the city. Houston (which might've voted for Gore actually, I dont know, but meh its Texas) has 2 million people over 600 square miles. NYC is 300 sq miles but has 8 million people.

Or maybe some people are just confused and voting major city when they only live in a major metro.

Whatever though. Interesting.

Small town/suburb -- it's pretty small but we're not too far away from Baltimore.

Either way, voting Kerry.

The reason is that although cities are heavily liberal, most of the population in major cities are ignorant of politics, and the ones who are not ignorant are conservative. How could so many people in the Bay Area keep  Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, and Gavin Newsom in power? Becuase they're ignorant.

Brambila,

BINGO!!! Absolutely Right. And the funny part is that so many of those inner city leftists, who are so utterly ignorant, think they are incredibly well informed, yet they know amazingly little about substantive issues.

Sean Hannity recently interviewed several High School seniors from New York, and I was astonished how dumb they were- they were ignorant on homosexuality, abortion, and especially the war on Iraq. They're support for homosexuality was "As long as you love somebody, you can marry them", for abortion "Her Body, her choice", and for Iraq were a series of idiotic statements.

Brambila,

It's actually really funny to get into political debate with some of those people. One of their big tactics is to bring up the Constitution, and then when I try to actually discuss the substance of a particular amendment or a high profile Supreme Court ruling, they look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language.

Brambila, maybe that's New York City, but most young people (at least in my school in a fairly centrist, right-leaning county) I've seen are pro-life (and I also realize that's not a scientific study).

But even so, those quotes you posted with the exception of any Iraq statements that were made (I'm sure those were pretty dumb), to me it shows an open mind, and the abortion statement simply reflects their views on a touchy subject that are difficult to change.  Not everyone thinks about abortion the same way you do.

And I'd like to see Hannity go down to Mississippi and interview some high school students there, see what they have to say -- just to balance out the ones from New York.

What exactly is the difference between a suburb and a exburb? The second phrase is kind of new to me.

Suburbs are right next to the city proper and the small communities that basically sprouted up around the city because of it. Exurbs are small somewhat rural communities quite a few miles away from the city proper and core area, that haven't been reached by sprawl yet, although they can in time. I actually wanted to delete that Bush's column, it was by error it remained, since exurbs are often considered rural. For example: Scott County. It's a horrible suburban sprawl county that I absolutely loathe that I pass through while driving to the Twin Cities. The north side of the county is full of suburban hell communities like Shakopee and Savage. But the south side of the county is rather rural, and I can actually often smell cow manure when I see the sign that says I'm entering the county. I then pass through a few exurban towns like Belle Plaine and Jordan.
