Here are the nominees for the new name for the Mideastern Region.

A.) Heartland
B.) Mid-Altantic
C.) Lincoln
D.) Atlantic-Midwest
E.) Mideastern (no change)
F.) Big East

All residents of the region are eligible to vote (MD, DC, VA, WV, OH, KY, IN, IL, MI, WI).

The vote with be conducted with preferential voting, so please rank all of the candidates 1-5.

There is no rush on changing the name, so I will keep this poll open for up to a week to get the maximum number of responses.

Don't you dare take Heartland, or else the Midwest may need to invade the Mideast Tongue

I know there was plenty of time to do this, but this just occured to me now, seeing as none of the choices are particularly appealing to me. I think we should be called the Big East... We've got Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio, all pretty big states. Cast my vote for that one.

Why would you be the heartland?

The Midwest has most of the grain producing states.  When you think of wheat, do you think of Wisconsin or Michigan or Delaware?  No.  You think of Nebraska or Kansas.

The only 'Heartland' farming type state you have is Indiana.

Besides, what are you the heart of?  The center of the contiguous 48 states is in Kansas.  The center of all 50 states is in South Dakota.  You have no claim to be the heart of anything.
