How has your opinion of Al Gore changed?

I'm answering more favorably. I really enjoyed his episode on SNL last year, and his fiery speeches have surprised and enthused me.

The guy had a 19% favorable rating (17% among independents) when he ducked out of sight in Dec 2002!

Looks like he's positioning himself for another run in 2008 if Kerry loses.  It would be fun to watch Hillary, Gore and Edwards go at each other in 2008!

December 2002? That's when he went on his book tour. Did you mean 2001?

Less favorably, actually.

Not only do I still not know what he actually thinks about anything, it seems that he's gone overboard now. Pretty soon he'll be writing about his theories on Bigfoot and will be relating UFO sightings, as Jimmy Carter has done (with the latter).

Whether screiching that the earth will melt in global warming and at the same time freeze in a new ice age, I think its safe to say that Gore is gone off his rocker.  I LOVE IT! HA! sorry...

i dislike him the same amount as i did in 2000.

i never really thought of him as 'boring'.  condescending, yes, but boring no.  he speaks pretty well.  ive seen him speak in person and he does a good job.

john kerry is boring.

I think he hit the bottle pretty heavy after his loss. He's lost hair, gained weight and has generally lost his mind.

Yes, I think his loss in 2000 had some negative consequences for him personally.

More favorably. He is more plainspoken and I like it better than his "I'm-not-as-liberal-as-you-think-I-am-and-therefore-I-take-these-in-between-positions-so-that-I-can-win-over-the-moderates-and-beat-that-cowboy-from-Texas" approach.

Less Favourably.

If you go crazy after losing an election at least do what Nixon did and cover it up.

Acctually, after the Reagan memorial service, it has improved.  He showed up, acted respetably and appeared attentive throughout.  Unlike the Clintons who were falling asleep.

I dislike him even more than on 2000.  On the other hand I love him for entertainment value, for losing ignominiously, and for being an ongoing embarrassment to the Democrat Party.

I've watched the unfortunate decompensation of Gore for some time:

In 1988 I voted for him in the NY Democratic Primary - the only centrist among the so-called "seven dwarfs".

In 1991 I watched his speech on the Senate floor, when he cast the deciding vote, against most in his party, on going to war with Iraq the first time.

In 1992 I thought he was a great choice for VP - a team of "new" Democrats changing party politics forever!

In 2000 I was horrified at the poor campaigning, and began to see the petty side - the inability to patch things up with Clinton and use his political skills to benefit his campaign. At least he conceded before we progressed to a worse national crisis than we already had.

In 2004 I'm again horrified:

at the loud podium thumping ridiculousness - is this what the handlers now say people want to hear?

to hear him label this new Iraq war the "greatest foreign policy failure in America's history"!

A sad decline indeed - the man can never represent centrists again.
