This is to discuss the newly founded UAC Party. For basic info, see JFK's "New Era" thread.

It should be noted, for starters, that besides moderate politics that are against extremes from both sides, the UAC is a party that is against the hardcore fantasy government.

What we propose is, the ability of ANYONE to declare themselve a senator, governor, etc of a particular state, like in the 1st election.

Basic guidelines for registering and voting in presidential elections.

A "Game Moderator" to create hypothetical scenarios for the presidential administration (real world issues) that all members can critique, praise, etc for when the administration does something about it.

For social issues, we are:

*For Civil Unions with ALL the benefits of a government recognized, heterosexual marriage. We believe the legal benefits for marriage belong to all individuals and are not a part of what marriage actually is.

*Against abortions past the first trimester (except in cases where the mother's health is at risk, or if it is a case or rape, incest.)

This is a good idea, I think a shift of the government away from "dealing with trolls" and towards real world scenarios will deal with a number of the problems that have arisen.

Wow....my message on the other board was heeded quickly...and deleted quickly!. Wink

I like the elections for Senator and Governor.  Only having an election for president only allows three or four of the eighty people on this forum to run for office.

Not that Senators and Governors should have any REAL power.  But its fun to be able to follow many elections at the same time.

We will not interfere if a reigon or cluster of states wishes to hold a senate election -- we simply do not support regulation of it by a Constitution.

Don't forget -- the UAC stresses more simplicity in the Atlas Fantasy Elections -- brining more fun back into the game.

A Senate is by definition a national body and it will have to interact with the President somehow and play some role in the scenarios. Perhaps the Governorships can be left up to specific regions/states.

I support the UACs attempt to focus the forumm on real issues, not fantasy ones.  This was the crux of my own complaints early on after the revolution.

I mostly fit into the mold of the UAC Dunn, but of course, like any party, you don't need to agree 100% with it to be a part of it.

Another proposal for additonal elections that I certainly wouldn't mind is this:

5 Senate seats (senators can interact with the president). No regions, no districts (these have WAY complicated the game). Just 5 seats, anyone can run, and we'll have 5 contested elections nationally.

We are still in discussion about all of this, this hasn't been finalised, but if it were to come to pass, we would obviously have to separate the seats, we could just call them Senate Seat 1, Senate Seat 2, Senate Seat 3..... Number has no allocation of power, it is just to differentiate them.

I am not center left on social issues.  I am center right.  If we go to the four party system, I will probably join, but for now I am a better fit as a moderate Republican.

Sure, suit yourself... Sad Wink

Think about it though, it's a big party. If you're only moderately on the 'wrong' side, that's acceptable. If we're +1, -1 that means -1, +1 is just as acceptable as +3, -3, if you see what I mean. Wink

I think that may be a plan of ours, we have to discuss it further though, once we get a forum up and running we can go over it all.

Also, if we want a Senate, we should stagger elections so people are more involved Tongue

Everyone knows the Senate elections are staggered right now, right?  There are five seats up every two months.

It would be difficult to stagger elections of non-permanent geographic districts.  You could end up with one state being in two different districts at the same time.  We could do something like this if people want elections every month:

June: Presidential election
July: Regional Senate seats
August: Governors elections
September: District Senate seats
October: Presidential elections
etc.

At the moment, it looks like we are proposing senators elected by the whole forum, not regions and districts.

The UAC can propose whatever it wishes, but at the moment, "Yes on Regions" is winning comfortably in Beet's poll, so I don't know how much support you'll get.
