In 1912 Theofore Roosevelt supports William tafyt for a second term. Who will the elctorate support. Wilson and Debs are progressives, but not backed by Teddt Roosevelt. Who will the voters choose to lead them in 1912?

Taft was a great person. Very underated by history. It's sad.

Woodrow Wilson he helped to reestablish a two party system nationwide and was a dedicated internationalist. Debs might also get my vote.

Debs had principles and was a great leftwing populist and charismatic speaker...

But in the end I'd agree more with Woodrow Wilson... despite him being one of the United States most openly racist presidents...

Is the question, like the poll suggests, who I would have voted for, or, as the post suggests, who the people at the time would've voted?

Then, without hindsight, probably Wilson. Hell, probably Wilson even with hindsight! Wink

Just a side note, if Roosevelt never ran, LaFollette's 1912 Republican nomination campaign would probably defeat Taft's campaign. If not, I could imagine LaFollette running third party in 1912. He would win my vote, and he would make a great President.

Battaling Bob LaFollete was a bit too extreme for America. He wanted to socialise poower companies and railroads.

LaFollette's nomination campaign was pretty poorly managed though and might have contributed to costing TR the nominatino.

He dropped out soon after TR entered. He became a non factor in the early primaries.
