I'm exactly where I thought I would be:

My views on drug policy will always push me to the "West"; furthermore, there was no question about abortion in the quiz.

I think it was implied in, "who ought to pay your medical bills, you or someone else?"  That's how we really separate the Left from the Right, imho.

Just for fun, here's where I see the parties living:

Wherever there is a border, you have people who could go either way, or some shared ideology.  For example, I think there IS a bit of common ground among Libertarians and Greens, which is why I made them border one another.  No border between Greens and Republicans, though Smiley

NW-You would feel most at home in the Northwest region. You advocate a large degree of economic and personal freedom. Your neighbors include folks like Ayn Rand, Jesse Ventura, Milton Friedman, and Drew Carey, and may refer to themselves as "classical liberals," "libertarians," "market liberals," "old whigs," "objectivists," "propertarians," "agorists," or "anarcho-capitalist."

Centerville-You would feel most at home in Centerville, which means that you are more or less pleased the status quo-you think the US government has just about the right amount of control over your economic and personal decisions. Your neighbors include democratic and republican party leaders and others who call themselves "moderates" and "centrists."

I also agree that the positions of Bush and Kerry on this map are messed up. Kerry definitely believes in more personal freedom than Bush.

now this is a suprise. My latest political compass results:

Economic Left/Right: -8.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.62

Your what like 20 man? Yeah by the time you're 30 you'll be a neo conservtive Tongue

You will be assimilated resistance is futile! hah

"Economic Left/Right: -8.88" should be translated as "I'm too young to have paid any significant taxes."

No offense, Red.  I actually considered myself a Socialist when I was in high school.  It's natural.

I would be a lot closer to Red's Libertarian score if not for my beliefs on abortion.

Do you realize how high Minnesota payroll taxes are?

You repeatedly choose the moderate liberal position on social issues (ban harmful speech but everything else ok, government regulating sex industry instead of staying out of it, legalizing marijuana but not the hard drugs)

You also chose to keep the existing immigration policies as they are instead of allowing more immigants (centrist position), but that's it.

SW- You would feel most at home in the Southwest region You advocate a large degree of personal freedom and a large degree of government control over the economy. Your neighbors include such folks as Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader, Hilary Clinton, and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, and may refer to themselves as "liberals," "left-wing liberals," "civil libertarians," "democratic socialists," "egalitarians," or "anarcho-socialists."

No way in hell does Bush believe in more personal freedom than Kerry.

That's ridiculous. I also can't believe they put FDR that authoritarian.

You are scary close to me.  All these Centrists like you and Tweed with Red avatars.  If the Democrats are that comfortable for Moderates, maybe I should come back to the party I abandoned in 1998.

I scored pretty near zero on the social end and 4.something on economics.

I have a problem with the test though.  How come they don't mention:

-gun rights
-private property rights
-speech codes on college campuses
-hate crimes laws
-right to work laws.

How come you are only authoritarian if you espouse traditional moral views.

Aren't lefties authoritarian in these respects?
