Why does everyone think Rudy will run in 2008? He's probably going to run for Governor or Senator in 2006. If he won either office, he'd be sworn in January 2007 and he'd have to start campaigning for the Presidency in mid 2007! That's less than half a year as Senator/Governor and he's already seeking the Presidency? That wouldn't go well.

I like Giuliani. He might not be my type socially, but when he really did clean up NYC and his leadership in tough times should be admired by all. He wouldn't be one of my first choices for President but I'd vote for him over a extreme conservative like Moore.

Gore running with someone that he feels cost him the election? I don't think that would go well.

Why would Giuliani run against Pataki, a fellow GOPer? Senate is likely, unseating Hillary would make up for Obama nailing Keyes...

Well, the Libertarians will certainly run somebody who very well could be Ron Paul.

The Constitution Patry will almost certainly be around and Roy Moore would have gotten the nomination if he had wanted it this year, but there could easily be a new darling of the fundamentalists by then.

The Greens will be around and while they will reject Nader again, a tree-hugging celebrity is an excellent possibility.

Nader will be so embaressed by his showing this year, I don't think he will run in 2008.

Maybe some of the fourth parties will be able to grow or merge into a third party, but I doubt it.

Ventura's not libertarian enough for the Libertarians, and the Independence Party broke off from the Reform Party, so I'd imagine they wouldn't welcome him into the fold too easily Wink

Maybe if he formed a national Independence Party.

I would hope for our party it would work out to be something like Penn Jillette/Jim Gray.  The celebrity status and money would be signifigant enough to pull off a good campaign.  Hopefully a couple million votes, and get the libertarian message spread.

Of course I would love it if Ron Paul ran again, but let's face it, he's kinda old to be running.  He's about the only one keepin' it real in the house, and he's got enough will not to be pressured to take a stance he doesn't feel is right, or kow tow to either the Libertarian or Republican party

I will give Ralph Nader every penny I legally can if he'll run against the Democrat candidate again, and I suspect you'll find plenty of Republicans who feel the same way. Wink

I know you have done at least two that I have seen.  To back him up Ventura is not a Libertarian, nor would he seek their nomination.  Even if he did I seriously doubt they would nominate him.

Ventura is a "libertarian" and not a "Libertarian", "libertarianist" maybe? Generally speaking he is socially liberal and economically conservative. Of the 4 quadrants he is libertarian, but not a member of the Libertarian Party and I'm sure there are some things that he disagrees with the LP on. He was part of the Reform Party, but is now part of the Minnesota Independence Party.

I would like to see Ron Paul run but I doubt he will. The door was open for Moore in 2004 if he wanted it for the Constitution Party, but he turned it down. If either major party goes with someone too close to the center, there is a lot bigger chance of a big name jumping to a third party. But with the way the primary system works, that is unlikely.

Of course a lot can change in 3 and a half years.

I'll buy that.  Really, it depended on his mood when he got out of bed in the morning what kind of views he was going to come up with.  He could be that damn inconsistent.
