A question for Republicans: Who is your all-time favorite Presidential candidate?

Calvin Coolidge!

I just realized that not that many Republican candidates never became president, only Fremont, Blaine, Hughes, Landon, Wilkie, Dewey, Goldwater, and Dole

In that same time span many more Democrats never became prez: Douglas, Breckinridge, Seymour, Greeley, Tilden, Hancock, Bryan, Parker, Cox, Davis, Smith, Stevenson, Humphrey, McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, and Gore

Oops, sorry for going off topic!

Barry Goldwater

He said what he thought and he didn't give a care what people said about it. Sure he lost in a huge landslide.

He said things like, "We should lodge a missle into the mens room at the Kremlin." He also said durring the New Hampshire Primary, "I think thigs would be better if we just sawed off the Eastern Part of the country and let it float out to sea."

Herbert Hoover is my favorite president, but he was a terrible campaigner. He would read speeches and never take his face off the manuscript.

The fact the he would stand up for what he believed in despite the results causes me to have a lot of respect for him.

I almost feel sorry for him running against Obama. I'm still trying to figure out what would be worse, a Keyes Presidency or a Buchanan Presidency.

Roosevelt.

He got shot during one campaign.  He finished his speech before he finally went to the hospital.

Sample Headline:
"Shotgun Blast To Abdomen Just Pisses Roosevelt Off More."

Alan Keyes has the credentials- he's a Harvard graudate for Christ's sake! He's been an Ambassador, ran in the Republican primaries against Bush... he's a strong candidate. Keyes will probably lose by 15-10% by november, but only because he entered into the scene late. Obama had a head start. This is like the Lazio vs. Clinton campaign in 2000, where Giuliani dropped out (like in April) and Clinton won. Nobody like Hillary, it's just that they didn't get a chance to know Lazio.

He was the Bull Moose Nominee then.

In 1904 he was angry that it was considered "undiginified" to campaign for himself as an incumbent president. He chose to campaign anyway. Smiley
