Fellow Governors,

I propose this map (the "Fritz" map) be put up for a vote.  If the map gets three-and-one-half yea votes, it will enacted as the official district map.  (Andrew and Siege each get 1/2 a vote).  If it does not, we will continue our discussions to find a better map.

Please do not post in this thread unless you are a Governor voting on the map.

I vote Yea.

We have a majority of Yea votes, but I suggest we leave the thread open until tomorrow to allow the other Govs to express their opinions.

Govs, please note the constitutional amendment currently on public poll:

Districts do not have to be contiguous, however, there can be no more than one state dividing the states in a district. The difference between the number of registered voters in any two districts shall be no more than three more than the minimum possible difference under constitutional rules. The Governors shall arrange the set-up of the districts, and, with a two-thirds vote, approve the final version. A census of registered voters shall be administered every four months which will determine the districts. Districts shall be numbered, the district with the lowest number of states shall be called district one, and so on up to district five. A new amendment need not be formed in order to change the districts. An up-to-date list of the districts and their respective states within shall always be displayed within this amendment.

The amendment specifies a two-thirds vote, not a simple majority.  2/3 of 5 = 3.33.  Since you have two people whose vote counts as half a vote, 3 1/2 will suffice.

Anyone CAN win in District 3.  Is is pretty well-balanced among all the parties.  I'm glad we have at least one District where that is true.

That amendment actually doesn't overturn the previous one passed regarding re-districting Wink. I am not sure if that calls for a two-thirds vote or not but as we have it, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I know, but we needed this amendment for the non-contiguous district to be valid.

Just to give you an idea on voter registration of the map you have just approved.

This is done by voter registration, not by those who took part in the census

District 1:

Democrats: 7 voters
Independents: 2 voters
Republicans: 5 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 2 voters
United left: 4 voters

District 2:

Constitution: 1 voter
Democrats: 6 voters
Independents: 2 voters
Independence Party: 1 voter
Progressives: 1 voter
Republicans: 5 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 7 voters
United Left: 2 voters

District 3:

Democrats: 4 voters
Independents: 5 voters
Independent Labour: 1 voter
Independence Party: 4 voters
Republicans: 5 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 2 voters
United Left: 1 voter

District 4:

Democrats: 3 voters
Independents: 4 voters
Independence Party: 1 voter
Republicans: 7 voters
Southern Republicans: 2 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 3 voters

District 5:

Democrats: 2 voters
Independents: 1 voter
Independence Party: 3 voters
Jesus Christ Party: 2 voters
Republicans: 4 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 6 voters
United Left: 3 voters

Overrall Totals:

Constitution Party: 1 voter
Democrats: 22 voters
Independents: 14 voters
Independence Party: 9 voters
Jesus Christ Party: 2 voters
Republicans: 26 voters
Southern Republican Party: 2 voters
United Atlas Centrists: 20 voters
United Left: 10 voters

So by number of voters parties (and independent) look as follows:

1. Republicans
2. Democrats
3. United Atlas Centrists
4. Independents
5. United Left
6. Independence Party
7. Jesus Christ Party
7. Southern Republican Party
9. Constitution Party

-------------------

In review of that, why does everyone criticize the UAC for being too big? It is only third in the list!!!!!

Migrendel switched back? I apologise then. I have him down as a Democrat.

Actually, you've got Districts 1 and 2 mixed up.  According to the constitution, the district with the fewest number of states is District 1, so that'll be the NY, PA, MD, DE, DC district.

Yes, sorry about that. I knew about the clause before but forgot when I wrote that out.

Just FYI, here's the district map with numbers of registered voters, instead of the census numbers used.
