I might add the phrase "Manifest Destiny" over the GGB in latin, but my latin is very rusty, so I'll have to figure out how to write that.

The main colors- red, white, and blue represent the traditional American colors of the blood shed for the nation, the night sky, and the soul.

The two stars represents the union of the region and nation, with the golden gate bridge in the middle uniting them.

The golden gate bridge symbolizes the union of the Pacific region.

The words "Manifest Destiny" are in the flag, though I might edit them to make them a little nicer (I don't like the glow).

The number 2004 is the year the Pacific region entered the union, though isn't it 2003?

I would definately like to have the latin on the flag.  That would be very cool.

Western District?

You mean District 5 or the Pacific Region?

If you mean the Pacific Region, we already have a flag that Don made.

Somewhere back, probably about 10 pages, he made it around the time all the regions were getting flags.

The other option is Lewis and Clark.

The Golden Gate Bridge doesn't define the entire west.  Sorry, that's why i don't like it.

I liked don's flag, it was very good.

As a resident of South Carolina, I must oppose any attempt to represent a rainbow for whatever reason that does does not include the color indigo.  ROY G. BIV folks, ROY G. BIV.

San Francisco is not the capitol of our region nor should one be chosen. So the golden gate bridge should not be on our flag I still like Don's the best could use one more star so it represents HI and Alaska.

Of course you could always set up a petition take 5 signatures for a proposition to get on the ballot.

Perhaps a swastika could be added to represent Idaho!

But the Golden Gate Bridge is also a symbol of the western union. Otherwise, we have Lewis and Clarke, the Arch in St. Louis, Redwood Trees, or the Pacific Ocean.

Actually, what everyone here has in common is the Redwood Wink

We don't need a land mark on our flag though.

No, we don't want bondage to be the symbol of the West!

I think we should have a diverse group of people all holding hands!

I actually was thinking more along the lines of a diverse group of instruments of torture.  We can borrow liberally from the Museum of Torture.

Redwoods I think represent more the Pacific Northwest. That is what they are generally identified with, and even though most Westerners are from California, Idaho, and Washington now, that may not always be the case. Right now you already have WMS. The Bay Bridge of course is identified with San Francisco or at least California, not the rest of the West.

The Lewis & Clark expedition is not identified with the entire western United States, but at least no definable group of states come to mind when you think of the Lewis & Clark expedition. And it IS identified with the opening of the west and symbollically with all territory west of the Mississippi settled by the U.S. It is probably the most representative choice.
