This is a comparison of the UAC Party platform to two proposed platforms for the Democratic Party- one proposed by Ben, the other by President Nym90.  The Republican Party does not have a platform that I am aware of.

I welcome critique and corrections to this analysis.  I may be off on my placing of positions as left, center-right, etc.

Abortion
UAC: 1st trimester, rape/incest- center-right
Dem-Ben: uphold Roe v Wade- center-left
Dem-Nym: an absolute right- left

Affirmative Action
UAC and Dem-Nym: no race based AA, class based ok- center-right
Dem-Ben: vague- unsure

Gay Marriage
UAC: support civil unions only- center-right
Dem-Ben: state rights issue- center-left
Dem-Nym: an absolute right- left

Death Penalty
UAC and Dem-Ben: extreme/heinous cases only- center
Dem-Nym: none at all- left

Welfare
UAC: 1 1/2 year time limit- center-right
Dem-Nym: No blanket time limit- left
Dem-Ben: no position stated

Environment
UAC: renewable energy sources, financial incentives- center-left
Dem-Nym: huge importance, financial incentives- left
Dem-Ben: no position stated

Education
UAC: Reform NCLB, private corporations handle failing school districts- right
Dem-Ben: NCLB has failed, federal gov't must support states: center-left
Dem-Nym: No school vouchers, more money to schools- left

Economy
UAC: cut government spending, support free trade- center-right
Dem-Ben: middle class tax cuts, raise upper taxes, reduce budget deficit, eliminate wasteful spending- center
Dem-Nym: spend what is necessary, support free trade- left

Foriegn Policy
UAC: isolate North Korea, root out terrorism with military, tough immigration screening- right
Dem-Ben: Peaceful, stable Iraq/Afghanistan a priority, work with other nations/local leaders, Patriot Act questionable- center-left
Dem-Nym: incentive to NK to dismantle nukes, do not support war in Iraq, support legal immigration- left

Forum Issues
UAC: Abolish Supreme Court, districts only
Dem-Nym: keep current systems and regions
Dem-Ben: no position stated

I'll post some positions on Welfare, Environment and Forum Issues in a short time.

Also I would say that you may have misinterpreted by proposals on Education Smiley

While I did say that NCLB has failed and should be scraped, and further that the Federal government does need to offer support for individual State's education budgets, I did also say that a greater onus should be shifted towards the states which regards to funding spending on education. Further more (and going to greater detail than I originally did) I would advocate the encouragement of "Public-Private" partnerships in providing both education and health care services, so that these areas will be supported by State Government investment, Federal Government investment and Private investment but what is essential that quality of service rather than profit be the guiding aim of these services.

I'm going to propose a "platform framework" for the United Left (or Greenback) party tomorrow...but I'll let the membership decide on the specifics.

Yeah sure, no prob, but this thread is a litttle irrelevant now.  Nym's platform is revised, and Ben's has been withdrawn (basically I think they found some middle ground).

I plan to do a thread similar to this one once ALL the parties have an established platform.

I think the ANP Platform is about done.
