how many do you read every day?  which ones do you read?

please, im looking for some good posts.  i dont want to hear that the 'ny times is a liberal rag', or that 'the wsj editorial board is made up of a bunch of facists'

as for me, i read a bunch of papers per day.  my favorite national paper is the ny times.  my favorite local papers are the charlotte observer and the raleigh news and observer.

I don't read these every day but I do often read the Financial Times and the Guardian and read The Economist on a regular basis (I have a subscription).

I used to read the Washington Post daily, but now I pretty much just read the Buffalo News on Sundays, cause it's free.

UK:
The Guardian (can get a little overbearing sometimes though), The Indie (I almost always disagree with the editorial line, and the paper has gone downhill at breakneck speed for a few years now, but they *do* have some great correspondents and sometimes a good columnist or two), The Northern Echo (best Regional/Local paper in the U.K) and a depressingly large range of poor quality local rags.
For newsmags, Private Eye (can get a little overbearing sometimes, but the little section on Council Corruption is a goldmine), Tribune (for old times sake only... My God has Tribune gone downhill over the past 5 odd years...), The New Statesman (see comment on Tribune).

Occasionally: Berliner Zeitung, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Neue Presse (very local), Guardian, Le Monde

The State and Inverstor's Business Daily are the daily papers that I regularly read.  The State is the Knight-Ridder paper in Columbia. SC and is generally fairly decent in its coverage.  It's editorial policy is more interested in promoting well-run government than any specific political viewpoint.   IBD on the other hand is extremely solidly pro-business Republican.  One is never in doubt about their editorial policy.

Newsday, since it is delivered to my house, but if I want to get fired up I run down to dunkin donuts and get the NYT.  Always nice to read the editorials, especially when all of them share your viewpoint.

I read Politiken every day as it is the newspaper I least disagree with. When I visit my parents I always read the local newspaper Lolland-Fasters Folketidende. An awfull farmers newapaper but hey it's always fun to know what silly things the local's been up to this time Smiley

(In case all you inlighted people don't know the Danish newspapers, Politiken is a social-liberal centre newspaper)

I'm very interested in economics.  The stock market in particular I'm not really into, but I love economic theory.  I've read Heilbroner's The Wordly Philosophers every summer vacation for a while now.  Basically, I'm only interested in macro-economics, and could care less about today's workings of individual companies and the like.

But I keep up with what's going on in the business world, simply because I think it's the smart thing to do.  But, answering your question, i'm not that interested in the stock market.  Curious, yes, but not as interested as i'm interested in politics Smiley

For a Northeast Philadelphia resident your logic in being a Republican and shooting yourself in the foot constantly to defend those more fortunate does not reasonate with me nor will it ever.  Let me ask you this, are you going to college?  If so how are you paying?  I think I have made very clear, concise arguments against Bush's economic policies in this Forum.  The only logic I get for people defending them is one of two things "I'm not wealthy and my accountant said I got a nice chunk of change" or "Tax cuts allow business to hire more workers and raise wages".  As for the first one it may be true, but in aggregate terms, the average NE Philly resident is getting raked over coals.  A lot of people are federal employees and yes benefit from a government salary.  Their jobs are under constant threat.  Also, college tutitions have skyrocketed these past 4 years.  I hardly think it's just coincidence.  Federal funding of post-secondary education has decreased under the Bush Administraion.  "No Child Left Behind" is also severely underfunded and creates ridiculous standards that can not be met due to lack of funding.  Another huge hole Bush left out in the midst of all of this is the DEFICIT/  Who's paying for it?  It's borrowed money in the form of Treasury paper that we all have to pay abck in the form of interest.  In the long term such irresponsibilty creates a nasty little thing called inflation.  Reagan's polciies are a pinnacle example of this.  Hey the O'Brien commiteman may have got a $500 tax cut, but he essentially approves giving his grandkids a $2,000 I.O.U.  As for businesses hiring mroe workers that is in part true, but it doesn't help small businesses.  Wal-Marts and companies that outsource offshore benefit a lot more from such cuts than a local deli.  The Bush tax cuts lead up to a Feudal caste system in the long run.

Hey, before you insult my intelligence, could you please make an intelligent argument before acting like a lackey for someone you have never met?  All you seem to come out with is Section 8 is an issue, Bush tax cuts =GOOD, Melissa Brown will be a great Congresswoman, medical malpractice is an issue, pro-life, let people go to Iraq to die to defend our great country, errrrr!

Considering how badly John Street has run this city and Section 8's expansion, I can understand why one could become a conservative.  No really.  Thing is keep a level head through all of this and take ALL issues into consideration and REALLY look into them and analyze all fo the facts.

Thing is I'm interested in all three things: economics (mainly taxes), politics, and the stock market

What? I'm a lackey now? Pal, you don't know me. I guess though that defending someones policies if you never met them is being a lackey? And I was OBVIOUSLY kidding around when I said you have poor vocabulary.
