By ideological, I mean most liberal, conservative, libertarian, etc.

As for me, although I am quite liberal on almost all issues, I am furthest left on women's rights, gay rights, and civil liberties.

Don't mind me asking what town in NJ?  I remember you saying Burlington Co.  I live right across the Tacony in Northeast Philly.

Anyway, I'm pretty much a Democrat except for affirmative action as well and I pretty much want an overhaul of Philadelphia City Hall with few exceptions.  However, I feel SOME affirmative action is necessary until racial problems are remedied and that includeds whites.  I also share the John Kerry view on abortion, NOT Nancy Pelosi's.  No, KP, this does not mean all Democrats.  Just Street and Blackwell.

Truth be told, I'm an all around very idealist person, but my idealism is murked by the realities of life.

Those, I hold no true ideological possitions.

For instance, abortion, I oppose it in any circumstances other than LofM, but am willing to concede rape and incest for legal purposes.  And I am not even one of these people screeming "Stop Abortion Now", because I believe that it is impossible.  I think that we are going to have to work to slowly recreate a culture of life in America, until those who support abortion truely stand in the minority.  In the mean time, I want to take small step, like programs to convince women to take a baby to term, and parental notification laws.  Even if these steps only prevent a handful of abortions, it would be worth it.

I'm strongly pro-capitalism, but believe that society does have a responsability to take care of it's own.  When one good, decent person hurts, we all hurt.

To some it up quickly, none of my views can be reduced to a catch phrase.

I am farthest right when it comes to government spending.

It's not my furthest right position but I would government spending is near the top of my most conservative positions. Some of the wasteful spending that is added to our budget should annoy EVERY taxpayer.

On most matters I am quite far left, health, gay rights, workers rights, environment, education, corporate responsibility, tax etc. The key issues on which I disagree with the left are on abortion (I'm fairly anti), and law and order (I'd like harsher punishments). I also believe in personal responsibility.

Both Mort and English summed up what I was going to say quite well. Yes I believe in personal responsibility AND compassion.

I'm pretty far to the left on most issues, yet I don't go voting for Kucinich.

I am against Affirmative-Action in almost all cases. However, if you have a kid raised by a single-parent African-American mom who gets a 1210 on the SAT and a rich white kid who got private tutors and extra tools who gets a 1210, you take the African-American kid.

I'm not an environmental extremist either, I am for Genetically Modified Organisms, which many environmentalists are against.

Well, overall probably economics...though there aren't really any issues on which I take a hard-core left wing position...I'm pretty much solidly but not extremely liberal on most issues (a pragmatic liberal, you could say...liberal core values, tempered by reality).

Hehe. Well yes, I'm a bit more moderate, 4 points more on economic, 2 points more on social.

Maybe in 5 years, when you are my age, you'll be a little more moderate, too. Smiley
