Update #1

As I already said before, it is an honor for me to serve in the Assembly. I wish again to thank PiT and Senators North Carolina Yankee and Purple State, and now Senator Tmthforu94.

I also congratulate Barnes on his election to the Lieutenant Governorship of the Northeast.

In my first act as Assemblyman, earlier today I introduced some amendments to the smoking bill currently pending in the Assembly. Introduced by then-Assemblyman Tmthforu94, it would ban smoking in public and fine offenders up to $5000. It was criticized by JOHN91043353 and badger, both currently running for the Assembly, for the large maximum fine. Two other Mideasterners, SOEA HappyWarrior and Senator Purple State, questioned the role of the bill in private smoking, even though the bill does not call for any such ban. My amendments reduce the fines to $500 maximum ($100 minimum), and state explicitly that the bill shall not affect smoking in private areas.

Also, like JOHN91043353 and badger, I myself am also running for the Assembly. I was appointed two days ago by Governor Inks.LWC and I intend to run for a full term. Thus, this will also serve as my campaign office.

Update #2

I wish to thank Senator Tmthforu94 and to congratulate JOHN91043353 on being apointed to the Mideast Assembly by Governor Inks.LWC. Now that we have three members again, hopefully we can start.

I am pleased to have the endorsement of former Senator DownWithTheLeft in the next Assembly elections. I myself am also supporting him in the ongoing at large Senate special election.

The smoking bill of Tmthforu94 had to be reintroduced into the Assembly because, according to Speaker Peter, the bill died when Tmthforu94 left the Assembly in favor of the Senate. JOHN91043353 reintroduced the bill, with modifications, earlier today. Hopefully I will submit the first legislation of my own soon.

As I said already, I am running in the upcoming Assembly elections. If you have a question for the campaign, then you may post it here.

In elections like these you really don't have a defined opponent. You are running against Officepark as well as Peter and anyone else who runs.

Um no I never mentioned private smoking.  I meant that businesses should have the right to self determination on what they can and can not allow in terms of such things as smoking and drinking.  Read my statement.

I don't support any such ban.  I think people should have the right to decide if they want to smoke.  It's up to the restaurants or other establishments to make their own decisions otherwise.

Indeed, my mistake.

I endorse this proposal as amended, and if elected to Mideast Assembly will sign on as a co-sponser.

Update #3

I wish to congratulate Fritz on his election to the Senate.

Speaker Peter has introduced a Mideast Constitutional amendment to reduce the number of days necessary to declare candidacy prior to an election to appear on the ballot from seven days to two.

As I already said, that bill has my support. I consider a seven day limit to be excessively long, and I am sure that many others in the region agree.

Unfortunately, the bill will not reach debate until the public smoking bill is taken care of. Fortunately, I am confident that we will soon finish with it.

Update #4

The elections for Mideast Assembly are drawing near.

As I am running, and as two other candidates, namely badger and current Assemblyman JOHN91043353, have done so already, I decided that I too shall post two of my political positions, in fact the very same ones that were discussed by JOHN91043353 and badger.

On abortion, I am pro life, and support abortion restrictions. On the death penalty, I support it as a sentencing option for serious crimes, but it shall not be a priority for me to repeal the death penalty abolition statute currently in place in the Mideast.

If you are interested in my other political positions, you may ask here.

I am happy to announce I endorse you for the Assembly elections. You have pretty good political views, and you have done an excellent job in the Assembly, despite only being in there for a few days.

Update #5

I am honored to have the endorsements of Governor Inks.LWC and Senator Tmthforu94.

The Assembly elections are now drawing to a close. If you have not done so already, I would ask you to go and vote, regardless of who you support. A little more than twelve hours still remain.

Update #6

The elections for the Assembly are now over. It is apparent that badger, JOHN91043353 and Peter are elected to the Assembly. I am conceding the election to these three, and wish to congratulate them on winning this election.

Nevertheless, as I already said, all of the candidates were good, and thus I still do look forward to the next Assembly.

I shall continue to be active in Atlasian politics as much as possible regardless, however.

I wish again to thank all of those who supported me in this election.

I'm happy to hear you will remain active. Turnover in the Assembly is pretty high of late, so you never know when an opening will appear. A good showing.

Thank you, Officepark. I'm glad to hear you'll remain active in Atlasian politics. I hope you'll specifically remain active in the Mideast Assembly. I recently learned that even without the ability to propose or vote on legislation one can give worthwhile input via "letters from a constituent" and the like. There is rarely, if ever, a surplus of people like yourself able to give meaningful insight on issues.
