I'm not one of those idiots who thinks Colbert is actually a conservative trying to mock liberals by pretending to be a conservative, but I honestly think he would be a good choice because I do believe he is a small "l" libertarian which is the kind of candidate the GOP needs to rebuild itself.

I'd take Dennis Rodman over Henry Brown.

Obviously, he's a liberal pretending to be a conservative who mocks liberals by pretending to be conservative.  Or maybe he's really a conservative who pretends to do that.  You know, a conservative who pretends to be a liberal pretending to be a conservative who mocks liberals by pretending to be conservative.

He's made it pretty clear that he's on the left.

I suppose I haven't watched him enough to have made an accurate assumption but I can't help feeling that Stewart and his cohorts aren't really super-leftist on economic issues.

I would say they tend to be further left on Social issues than economic ones, but they also tend to be fairly liberal on economic issues as well.

He's dropped the act in some interviews before. I kind of wish that he would just drop it permanently at this point.
