Clearly situations where I'd rather eat off my limbs but I guess living in the pig farm or swamp would actually be an option for me. I'd just hate every minute of it.

Keep in mind that I am fair skinned and my eyes do not do well in tropical climes.. the sun burns my retinas in the shade... I have to constantly squint just so they don't hurt.

And why isnt Belgium so bad considering it's a cross between France and the Netherlands basically? By your standards it should be the worst country in the world.

My votes are based on a combination of factors, whether I have been to these countries before and enjoyed my stay there, my experiences with people from these countries, what I have heard from people who have visited and of course what I read about them on wikipedia Tongue

I have been to Hong Kong and Macau a few times and the only reason I have never been to China is because I didn't want to pay for a visa.  I have many friends however who have been to China.  A friend of mine from Kansas who recently got a divorce has been traveling all over the world and we sometimes talk about her trips.  She told me that being in Beijing or Shanghai felt like being a part of the future.  I'm staying with a friend of mine right now who has been to pretty much every country in the world and he tells me that his two favorite places in the world are the Yunnan province in China and Barcelona.
I also like Chinese films and literature.

I enjoy Indian culture too but I find China more fascinating that's all.  There are a lot of things about China I don't like (I guess one of the reasons why I have never visited communist China is because I'm afraid I might be arrested or something), but most foreigners who have been to China have enjoyed the experience.

I guess I should explain that the pairs are not randomly chosen.  It's actually a list of the 128 largest countries of the world by population.  The reason I'm asking you to compare the first country (China) to the second (India) or the third (USA) to the fourth (Indonesia) and the 127th to the 128th is because I think it's unfair to compare large countries to really small ones.

For some of these choices, there are obviously some dependent factors.

For instance, between France and the Dem. Rep. of the Congo.  If I were assured a decent supply of weaponry, I would rather go to the Congo.  Once there, I could move deep into the jungle and set up my own dictatorship where I am supreme ruler, a la Colonel Kurtz.
