Well...I'll call myself a Democrat for the purpose of answering this question.

Sure, why wouldn't I vote for someone from the "rival party"?

I won't name specific candidates that I'd certainly vote for....because my willingness to vote for a Republican depends greatly on the Democratic candidate Wink

But I really like people like Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Charlie Crist....or Mark Kirk in my state of Illinois.

Considering that I don't belong to a party at all, I can quite safely say yes.  It all depends on the candidate's views and how competent and effective I think they are.

In local elections, sure.  My first vote ever was to reelect Mary Hawkins, a Republican, the greatest mayor in the United States.

In statewide elections, I've got to go with the Democrat even though they usually resemble Republicans.
I voted for Pickering for the House when his only opponent was an open white supremacist.  For senate or presidential elections, I can't envision myself ever voting for a Republican, at least as long as the parties are still Democrat-liberal, Republican-conservative.

Would you vote for someone who's in the rival party?

Welcome to the forum.  Glad to see more conservatives with sense coming in.

Okay this is a tough question.  In the past yes I would have voted for Zell Miller, Sam Ervin, the old Robert Byrd instead of the new leftist one...etc.

Southern Democrat lawmakers used to have sense.  They advocated for a culture where the blacks and the white were treated EQUALLY not giving the black special or preferred status.  That has changed though and now the Democrat politicians and even some Republicans are reverse racists.  Look at the recent superem court nominee to prove that point!  Latin women are wiser than white men.  How is that not racist.

But aside from Miller I cannot think of one single democrat politician who does not want special rights for the blacks, gays and muslims.  I only know a few who oppose the genocide against unborn children.  And about half of them are against the right of law abiding citizens to own guns and protect themselfs from criminals.  (This is part of the liberal blame the victim and help the offender culture.)

Maybe there are a few democrats at the state or local level but they should just switch parties and join the GOP.  We need help taking our party back from so called moderates who are nothing more than liberal leftists in disguise.

I just had laugh at this one.  Tell me, have you heard of George Wallace by any chance?  Orval Faubus?  Now as futile as it is to reason with you on account of your narrow mindedness, I am still going to mention the fact that what you said just there is complete bollocks on account of the Southern Wing of the Democratic party being openly racist in supporting segregated schooling and bus services, a sort of mini-Apartheid within the Southern United States so to speak.  Under the Southern Democrats, blacks weren't treated equally, they were treated like dirt.

Senator Gillibrand is no DINO...

I could vote for Snowe, Collins and Bono Mack.

I have, but a liberal Republican in Sam Katz over John Street in 2003.

I would vote for Snowe, Collins, Linc Chafee, Mark Kirk, or even former Rep. Jim Greenwood.  I'm sure I can name a few others.  It usually depends on the Democratic nominee and if the Republican in centrist enough.  In most cases of a hardcore "Blame whitey" NAACP Democrat vs. a moderate Republican, I'll admit I'd go with the moderate Republican in most cases

um... I'd  never vote for Super-Nazi-KKK Byrd , I'm a huge Civil Rights supporter.
I know many Southern Dems would get my support , like Gov. Bredssen of TN and the Lt. Gov of KY.

and Rep. of SD Herseth-Sandlin.

On a presidential level I would've voted democrat 3 times.

1916 for Woodrow Wilson, AL smith in 1928 and FDR in 1932. I hate Hoover, HATE HIM!!!!

I will support Beverly Perdue ,my governor for re-election if no real republican has a chance against her .

Wow, Coburn says something I agree with for once, lulz. Although in the South I can't think of any Democrat who's open pro control.

Considering how hard it is for my party to even get onto the ballot in my state, I'm inclined to say "yes" I would vote for the rival party. I usually vote for the Democrat unless an independent with strong socially liberal views is running. In Oklahoma the only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats aren't batsh*t insane on social issues.
