I think you might win there, although I think David Paterson (my pick) could have worse approvals than Cheney in New York...they'd at least be comparable.

I've always had soft spots for Robert Byrd ("MIKADO'S A RACIST!" in 5...4...3...) and Howard Dean ("MIKADO'S A RADICAL!" in 5...4...3...).

Real brave Mikado sir.  You're the third to mention Byrd and second to say Dean. Smiley  And you called out your opposition that didn't call out the previous posters, way to preempt the late-comers haha.

So I'm a political coward that only likes to take calculated, limited risks.  Is that a crime?  Tongue

Definitely Kerry. Most liberals saw him as certainly better than Bush (who wouldn't have been), but many hesitate to praise him. I'd take Kerry any day over a generic Democrat.

Also Carolyn Maloney and Barbara Boxer.

No one really. At least not 'really like,' because by definition I'm not going to like (or even respect) the vast majority of politicians. I am currently supportive of Romney though despite some qualms, which on this forum is about as popular as being a neo-Nazi.

I don't love Woodrow Wilson, but I think he's a much better president than a lot of people (on this forum especially) give him credit for.

I don't know how most people feel about William Howard Taft, but I've always felt that his presidency was underrated.

No Phil.  The people of this state didn't hate Rick.  They just loved former-governor Casey so much that they had to vote for him again... or at least that's what 30% of those who checked the guy with the "D" by his name thought.

Anyway, the only two I could think of for myself were the man above, and Rudy Giuliani.  Though I would say that the guy beside Rick, in your sig, isn't winning over many friends either.

Well, I agree with that...to a point. That's why Rick got destroyed. A solid 40-45% have strongly disliked the guy though.

Irony is he was my pre-2005 "Everyone Seems to Love, but I Hate" answer.  I didn't think people caught onto his crap until the end of his term.  He is a good orator and I felt people were blinded by that.  I also thought his centrist dance towards the General Election was fake as well.  Joe Hoeffel would have beat him in 2006, we didn't need Casey, BUT we needed Casey to make it a Dem shoo-in and allow the DSCC to put resources in other states.  If it weren't for Casey, we'd still have "Macaca" in the US Senate nor would TN have been competitive.

Ok, 1) that's not irony and 2) he still had people that despised him before 2005.

Roll Eyes

You really need to stop this. Do you not realize that Joe Hoeffel was seen as a joke? Do you not realize that the race would have been totally different? Do you not realize that Santorum would have ran a totally different type of campaign when he saw that he actually...you know...had a chance?

You want to say Hoeffel had a chance? By all means, go ahead. That's certainly reasonable. Stop acting like it's fact though.

Articulate?

Wow.

I don't really "like" Palin, but I feel sorry for her because I believe she was abruptly thrust onto the national stage before she was ready, and was unfairly singled out by the media. Like I said, I don't like her (her positions on social issues scare me) but I don't believe she was ever given a fair chance.
