Yep, you read that correctly - I signed up for Street's Urban and Local Politics class just a few minutes ago.

My friend is taking it this semester and loves it. He said that Street is super smart (something many of us would never deny) and is actually a very nice guy. The two are actually very friendly/personal with each other. It'll be especially interesting for me, like my friend, because we are both young Philly Republicans from an area of the city that despises Street.

I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with this one. I was hesitant, at first, not really because of Street but it'll be yet another class where I'll have commentary on basically everything since I'm involved but, unlike other classes like that, I'll be competing with tons of others just like that.

I thought he taught in the law school.  You're right, I heard it was an interesting class.

Nope. He does this Poli Sci class that his TA's basically run while he does the lecturing.

I'd love to sit in on one of them.

Aren't there a few videos of him being super belligerent (whacked out) during the 80s?  I think Katz ran an ad with em, you should play it during class...

What Eddie fixed, Street broke.

I'm also looking to take a class on Urban Politics, but I think they are skipping next year. So I may have to wait until Fall 2010. Eh, but should be interesting.

Oh, yeah, there definitely are videos of that. He was an interesting character while in City Council. In fact, the documentary (which I highly recommend and plan on watching again tonight) about the 2003 Mayoral race - The Shame of a City - begins with Street being interviewed by the news about not paying his bills. He proceeds to shove the reporter out of his office and actually knocks the guy over.
