Not all that great.  They just put them into both of our McDonald's here and I also tried it in Hong Kong a few years ago...

It's like the Folgers of coffeehouse coffee.

They've been over here for years. They're typically okay - you don't have to worry about having bad coffee because they follow the McDonalds "hot to prepare coffee" by the book and do it the same every time. I used to go to one each morning, because it was downstairs from my office, but that was over two years ago. The coffee's okay, but not great. I'd probably put them as being slightly better than the average coffee chain.

Invented in Melbourne, fwiw. Basically, it's crap compared to a cafe and great compared to a Maccas.

Didn't realise it originated down here, although that makes sense given the cafe culture. Since this is the cafe capital of Australia, I actually haven't been to a McCafe down here. I agree with your opinion of them, though, however I don't think they're much worse than say, Starbucks. Give me an independent cafe any day!

The only problem I have with it (and other fast food coffees) is that it really is as hot as death when you get it. When I order a drink it's typically because I would like to drink it now, not in a half hour. Besides that, it's pretty run of the mill coffee. Tim Horton's is better; I wish they had them here.

It's not as bad as you'd guess, considering it comes from a fully automated $10,000 espresso/latte coffee maker, but it's probably not as good as it should be, considering it comes from a fully automated $10,000 espresso/latte coffee maker.

Stick with a real, local coffee house if you can.

I keep meaning to get one of those drinks when I go a McDonalds, but I never have. I still intend on it one day!

Why not just go to a local coffee house? I'm sure even your town has one.

I'd like to try something at a McCafe one day just out of curiosity but I'd probably hate myself if I ever went there on anywhere near a regular basis.

Their large cappucino is .65 cents cheaper than the large (venti) at Starbucks.  It's mediocre at best.  I will drink it if I can't find a Starbucks.  But I'd much rather pay extra and get the quality.

Still a shade better than Seattle's Best, which to me, tastes like ass.

Around here it is actually pretty good. Seattle's Best provides coffee for the McDonald's around here (though apparently not in alot of other places) and since Seattle's Best is owned by Starbucks its not that bad, of course because of the way it is brewed and kept it is not as good as Starbucks or a local joint but when you are in a hurry it will do.
