Nonsense politically motivated prosecution.  Hopefully Obama's new Attourney General will put a stop to the Bush administration's witch hunts.

you never fail to impress.

You don't think political corruption should be punishable?

Well, I don't know the details, but it was my understanding that he was just auctioning off the senate seat.. I wouldn't mind this in the least.  It is his perview, let him choose who he likes for whatever reason he likes (as long as it is a Democrat).

What about other things like....say....threatening to cut off funding to a childrens hospital because they wouldn't donate to his campaign?

Well, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.  This is machine politics, and the only way things like children's hospitals can ensure funding is to ensure that the GOP is kept out of office.  So asking them to contribute their fair share is, in my opinion, eminently reasonable.

This isn't really particularly mysterious; it's a fairly common pattern in urban politics, in which smart organization pols let a fair-haired boy (back in the day when they were all Irish) keep his hands clean, and he does keep his hands clean.

As a historical point, that's totally untrue. No machine run by people with brains ever let the "fair-haired boy" keep his hands clean and it's a total fantasy to pretend otherwise. Not getting involved in the day-to-day running of the machine is totally different from having clean hands. The hands of people who turn blind eyes are many things, but clean they aren't.

his imprisonment is unjust

the man blatantly sold a senate seat that goes beyond being a crime to being so utterly audacious it's unbelieable

Funny thing is that I think the person who might ending up taking the fall from a "certain angle" here is Rahm Emanuel.  Just a educated guess.

Because the Bush administration went on a witch hunt against Scooter Libby.  No, this guy is just a good prosecutor.

I hate this kind of prosecutor.

Why?  (Serious question)

Not much, in my opinion.  A very inactive, lazy prosecutor is the best kind, or the kind who accepts bribes.

What about one who specifically targets and indicts Republicans (Like Ronnie Earle in Texas, the guy who brought up the case against DeLay)?

That is the next best kind to the lazy, inactive, corrupt prosecutor.  Basically I want the government to be run by a good old fashioned Democratic machine, and I want all the prosecutors to be good reliable members of said machine.

But he didn't like them going after Scooter Libby.

Maryland Governor O'Malley said he has only seen Blagojevich at the most recent Governors' Association in the two years that they've been serving together. Only once in two years. Wow. He also felt the need to say that he's never shaken Rod's hand.  Tongue

Anyway, Illinois Attorney General Madigan is holding a press conference soon where she'll claim that the Governor is "unfit to serve." It appears as if it's being taken to the Illinois Supreme Court.

Ya, I saw that after I posted.  We think alike on this one.

Another thing - this is far from over.

To quote Torie, "That dog won't hunt."  It's either impeachment or resignation.
