Results are based on telephone interviews with 800 likely voters in New Jersey, aged 18+, and conducted October 24-26, 2008 by telephone. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.

Dick Zimmer (R)  41% (nc)
Frank Lautenberg (D)  49% (+1)

Any possibility at all that enough undecided voters are sick of Lautenberg that they vote for "change"?

I know about N.J., but the ghost of 2000 haunts the state.

I think it's possible that a similar narrowing may happen, but it's not likely.  Franks had the benefit of at least some money, Zimmer doesn't.  Franks nailed down some key endorsements, like that of the New York Times, Zimmer didn't.  The RNCC bought into the Franks race late in the game; they simply can't do that here.
