No this is not a joke. Well, his campaign might be a joke but it is not a joke that only 15 people showed up to see McCain today in Columbia, MO.

Come on Obama, now beat that.

It was probably very hastily organized.

I've flown into and out of that airport.  Frankly, that's probably a record crowd for that facility.

15 people showed up for campaign stop which isn't on the McCain campaign's official calendar.  Gee...  I wonder why.

Edit:  Let's quote from the actual article:

So the airport wasn't even an official campaign stop - McCain got off the plane and went to a restaurant.  Nevertheless, 15 people watched outside the airport fence to see McCain go down the steps of his airplane, even though it wasn't an official campaign stop.

still, you'd at least think the local Republican party would be able to call some people and get a couple of hundred to turn out in a town of nearly 100,000. Columbia is also the location of the University of Missouri, and one would think the College Republicans chapter there would be able to bring out more than 15 people.

Why would the local Republican party have people come out to see McCain get out of a plane?

If they held an actual campaign event on the tarmac, yes.  But waiting outside a fence at the airport when there's another scheduled event in town?  Why bother?  Get as many folks as you can to the scheduled event.  Of the two places where the candidate appeared, the airport's probably less relevant.

This Columbia stop was hastily scheduled and poorly planned, no doubt.  But I can't fault McCain for only 15 folks showing up to wait outside an airport fence.

because it looks good to have your candidate get off the plane with a crowd of adoring supporters.

Yeah, that's actually kind of impressive for getting off a plane.

Aren't the REAL rally stats enough to pump you guys up?  This is just rubbing it in.
