Original post:

I suppose this could go in the gubernatorial section, but it's more interesting for the 2012 implications:

If he does run for reelection for guv, then I think that means he won't run for prez.  He's already got two terms of governor.  There's only so much to be gained by another gubernatorial race if he's really just angling for the White House.

EDIT:

Looks like he's already decided not to run for reelection:

Wow, he's not wasting any time on this. Hell, he's not even waiting until the summer! BRTD claims the local MN media is saying he'll announce his decision to not seek re-election this afternoon (3 PM eastern, I believe).

this is the new blood the gop needs.

a collins/pawlenty ticket would be excellent.

Flip it and I'd accept it. Collins is far from ideal for me and I know others would throw a fit but Pawlenty as nominee (and possibly as President) would be worth it. That being said, I don't buy into this idea that we absolutely need types like Collins to ever win again.

Walter, it's time to hop off the Collins train.  It's getting silly.  The GOP is not going to nominate a stimulus-supporting, pro-choice candidate.  Her ideology pisses off everyone that votes in a primary.  No way she even gets near a 40 person VP shortlist.

I don't think he'll run for President, and if he does, he'll probably be out after Iowa. The only chance he has if Obama still has amazing approval ratings in 2012. He's a candidate who won't embarrass the party in the General Election, hopefully.

Remember that Walter also thinks Norm Coleman has a bright political future.

Ok but that has nothing to do with what BRTD said you said.

brtd used an adjective i would not have used: 'bright'.

coleman has a future.  whether it is bright or not is unknown.

Good Decision. I think he'll run 2012, but won't win.
