Harper appoints 18 Senators

With fear of a coalition taking over, Canadian PM Stephen Harper has appointed 18 Canadians to the Senate, filling up all the vacancies in a hope that the Senate can one day be reformed. All the Senators of course have to be willing to reform the body.

Appointments include political pundit Mike Duffy, skier Nancy Greene and journalist Pamela Wallin.

According to her Wiki entry, Wallin was a member of the socialist wing of the NDP once upon a time. I wonder if she's really a Tory, or just committed to reforming the Senate.
