Well then, I was curious to see what my fellow Republicans felt was important to them, now that we are about to enter quite a winter of discontent.

Post things you want to see happen/avoided in the next four years.

I'll start, I am violently opposed to a re-introduction of the fairness doctrine.

I'm more concerned about the direction the GOP will take as a result. I expect the GOP to elect go-along-to-get-along, toss-rightists-under-a-bus, Soult-like pessimists for leadership positions within the RNC and for the next session of Congress, so it makes no sense to expect any kind of organized opposition from them.

The winter, in this case, will be very long, so I won't give much more thought about politics until 2020 or so.

I fear that the opposite is going to happen actually. McCain has a reputation as a moderate, even though it isn't so. A lot of people are going to falsely conclude after he loses that the GOP needs to pander to  the (dwindling) 'base.' They may very well marginalize the party outside of the plain states and deep south. I may not identify as Republican anymore, in part because I feel the party has left people like me, but I am concerned about what that could lead to.

That'd be wonderful. That's why I'm concerned with McCain appearing too far-right.
