I was down at the McCain NE Philly HQs today and met a British woman (in town for business) who was volunteering with us for a few hours. We got to talking so I asked her where she was from and her constituency. I got more than I expected.

It turns out this woman ran for Parliament a few times. I was able to find out that she currently resides in Litchfield but ran in Burton (I think that was the name of the constituency) in 2001 and somewhere else in 2005. She's a Tory and obviously lost both times. She mentioned that the Conservatives ought to take the two seats that she lost before in the upcoming elections. Her name is Maggie. I have no other information. I'm trying to find out a bit about her on my own but any help would be great.

She seemed really awesome. As I was leaving, I made a comment about how people seem to think that Obama will solve almost all of their problems. Her response: "Yes, I remember when they thought that way about someone else....JFK." That type of stuff is music to my ears.  Smiley

The Tory candidate in Burton in 2001 was Maggie Punyer; she also ran in Harrogate in 2005.

Yep, that's her. I guess there isn't much information on her...?

She failed to be selected as Tory candidate for Rugby (marginal seat -notionally Conservative)  last year. I don't know what she's up to now.

I wonder what brought her there. She may be doing her bit to mend relations between the Tories and the GOP which are at present abysmal but improving.

She mentioned she's with some marketing firm or something. It wasn't a political trip. Her husband seems to be the one with political relationships here. She said that he's close with some people in the Bush Administration/Homeland Security.

I don't know when that was taken but she certainly looks different these days.
