I wonder why Obama is doing worse than Kerry in Massachusetts but seemingly better than Kerry in Rhode Island. I thought the two states were rather similar, demographically.

I wonder why Obama is doing worse than Kerry in Massachusetts but seemingly better than Kerry in Rhode Island. I thought the two states were rather similar, demographically.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I wonder if Kerry had any sort of connection to one of those states...

Yeah, but Rhode Island is close enough to Massachusetts that a Massachusetts governor should have had at least a little bit of an advantage there.   Boston is the unofficial capital of New England, and Providence is only 50 miles or so from Boston.  They're technically in different TV markets, though.

I thought the homestate effect didn't exist, BRTD. Tongue

But if Obama is hurting with blue-collar Catholics in MA, he should be hurting with those same blue-collar Catholics in RI.

He's stopped hurting among these people. They might still call him N-words (when he clearly isn't an African-American), but they'll vote for him.

I assume McCain will beat Undecided on election day, though.
