There has been a lot made lately in the debate by the Governor of the Pacific about my lack of activity as President.  While I continue to doubt his motives in challenging me, it has set off a lot of thinking on my part.

When I first ran for President, I felt energized and came at the job with full steam.  Now, as often is the case, my obligations in real life are starting to pile up, especially with my job.  Whereas I had plenty of time in the beginning of my term and while running for President, I realize now especially that I have less time to devote to this endeavor.

Between the time when I ran for re-election and today, I was assigned a major project in my job as an editor.  After considering whether or not I would have time to do both, I came to the conclusion, perhaps, that the Governor of the Pacific was right: I do not think I will be able to put the effort and energy into my second term that Atlasia deserves, especially with my new responsibilities.

With that being said, I must regretfully end my bid for a second term as President.

I regret having to make this decision, but it is better off that I declare this now rather than have to hobble through a second term or have to leave office prematurely due to time constraints.  Atlasia continues to have a choice between two determined public servants, Afleitch and Jesus, and there remains the possibility that another candidate or two will pop up to seek the office in my absence.

In fact, I strongly encourage other candidates to run.  This nation was built around elections, and a healthy, contested election benefits everyone.

I do want to thank all my supporters, especially those who were prepared to vote for me for a second term as President.  I appreciate and have enjoyed my time as President, but it is time to move on.  I will continue to participate in Atlasia, but as a private citizen.  And I will continue to participate in the NLC and in electing candidates to office, including my former Senate colleague Afleitch (NLC-MW), Judge AndrewCT (NLC-NE), and Senator Bacon King (NLC-SE).

There is still much to do in my term, and I pledge to you that I will not simply abandon the post of president. I will continue to address the issues Atlasia faces until the end of my term, and will begin discussions with my would-be successors to ensure a smooth transition and the continued prosperity of the nation of Atlasia.

Yours in Governance,

William Fox Moderate

I am very saddened by this Mr. President.  However this does allow me to freely vote for Jesus.

There's one major thing I wanted my Presidency to accomplish... and there was little chance that I could both do it and successfully run for re-election anyway.

I'll be introducing that little gem a little bit later today.

Sad news, Mr. Moderate, but it is understandable, and I am pleased that your career seems to be progressing well.

I was kind of thinking the deadlines had probably passed for any more candidates to declare, but I guess I'm not positive.

No. There's 32 hours left on the clock. Smiley

I will have a response up here in a short while. In the mean time, suffice to say that I will not be continuing to campaign and endorse Afleitch for President.

May I recommend you declare that you're running as his VP? He said he won't be back until the weekend, which is after the deadline, and having him appear as Afleitch/Write-in wouldn't be very fun. Wink

Sad

Mr. President, I was totally unprepared for such an announcement. I thought, as did numerous others, except for the obvious ones, that you were an outstanding President, thus I am saddened by your calls to not seek reelection this October. Yet, with such a move on your behalf I am now free to whom ever to support in the Presidential Election, with my support most likely to be behind either Andrew or Jesus.
