Eh. Obama's still never lead in the state, unfortunately. I think Indiana has a better chance of flipping, in the end.

As I pointed out in the other thread, something of an oversample of white Democrats.

Im sorry, but I don't buy Obama winning 33% of the white vote, winning small towns and suburbs, and Barr getting 5%. PPP always slants towards the Democrats. I'll continue to say NC is 6-8% more Republican than average.

That makes me wonder how they even ascertain that.  Self-reporting?  Phone prefixes?  Both would seem like potential disasters to me, especially in a state like NC.

Exit polling is crappy enough at that, and they're at actual polling places.

Anyone know what percentage the black vote was in the 2004 general election? This poll consists of 21% black voters.

Gotta love the consistent message of the polls out of NC: McCain leads by 0-20.

It'll be very interesting to see which of them gets it right. Personally, I'm betting on a 7-8% victory for McCain.

Obama's ceiling in NC (and also IN) should be about 47%.

http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/NC/P/00/epolls.0.html
The poll says that 33% of whites would vote for Obama, which is way too high. Another reason to suspect the poll.

I think that exit poll is considered erroneous. Someone will be along to confirm that.

There were a number of erroneous figures in the 2004 exit poll.  That was one of them.  So was the Bush got 44% of Hispanics (it was more like 39%).

Still, the exit polls are the best we've got for demographic breakdown, so we have to suffer...

Yes, the NC Exit Poll in 2004 was HORRENDOUS.

Black vote was only 18.5%, when the exit poll said 26%.

What other source exists for the voter's race?

Of course, they're just guessing, too. It was probably more like 21%.
